Properties

Material Characteristics

The Moonstone ore is a cold metal, housed in a rough shell. When cracked open though, it looks and feels very much smooth and polished. Often seen with rounded edges, it is most commonly found when storms let thunder crash down on mountains. This charges the ore and lets it shine in a shimmering dark blue color.

Physical & Chemical Properties

When harvested, the ore is poisonous and needs to be treated accordingly to cleanse it. Once melted, the ore loses its immunity to heat and can break easily when used in areas that are a bit hotter (starting at 14°C). A guaranteed break of weaponry will occur at 23°C.

Geology & Geography

Most commonly, Moonstones are found, growing out of the barks from trees. Two conditions can predict the growth of this ore. The higher up the trees prout and the denser they are together, the more likely it is, that Moonstones can be harvested.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Moonstone is used to enhance armory and weaponry, as well as to craft accessories and jewellery. Casting Moonstone-Veins on various parts of gear will make it more adaptive to magic, thus allowing magic tinkering of various sorts. Together with Sunstone it also is one of the primary components of Generic Astralica, an alloy with the properties to emit and receive magic.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Common believe suggests that Nev'eya is laying her blessing upon the inhabitants through the appearance of various materials. Moonstones are one of them. Miners and lumberworkers alike, both often pray to the goddess of earth for the great harvest and profit they are making. Because the primal herself created the Moonstone, the workers natureally don't dare to destroy the lands they operate in.
Behold, the mountain's sprout graces us. All hail Nev'eya, as she is the seed of all that we harvest

Industrial Use

Moonstone can be tinkered with in many ways. It can be melted and cast into arrowheads and earrings. The material can also be combined with other metals to create an alloy, which then is cast into a form to produce a piece of equipment. Lastly, the stone can be made into chains or other string-like shapes. This allows the user to lay it over, for example sword handles or shields.

Distribution
