Razih Settlement in Calradia | World Anvil

Razih

Razih is said to be the base from which Kanic explorers, an ancient people who are rumoured to have come South of The Boneyard  set forth to colonize the shores of the Perassic Sea in the centuries before the coming of the empire, the prows of their ships decorated with the intertwined vine leaves of the Kanic goddess of wealth, wine, love, and war. Today, the Kanic tongue has been replaced by Nahasi dialects and their religion is all but forgotten, but the symbol lives on, said to protect those who risk all for the sake of gain or glory.   The city today is a shadow of what it once was, and is moreso a stopping point on the way to other lands. The waters that flow down from The Pillars of the Gods allow for the cultivation of grapes to make wine, the city's primary export, and numerous canals run from the river into the city, providing fresh water. In addition, the city contains a large garrison of soldiers, largely from Qasira, which man a number of forts along the river's banks to protect against any future invasion from the The Eastern Calradian empire. The city is also a place of safety for navies of the The Southern Calradian Empire to take shelter along the river, and so there are plenty of sailors who call the city home (and drink much of the wine coincidentally).    From the beautiful vineyards and canals on the edge of deserts, still come many of the worlds most intrepid explorers, as the locals still carry the olden tradition of their forebearers for wanderlust. The halls of many of the wealthy families of the city are lined with treasures and trinkets of foreign lands, brought home by a tradition of youngest children to wander the world to bring home something of value for the family.
