"Trees are as close to immortality as the rest of us ever come"

Cardyyd forest is located between the cities of Vostrum and Danustica, along the Northern coast of The Perassic Sea and on the Eastern banks of The river SanguinThe forest is named after an ancient Imperial house, house Cardyyd, who once held a number of towns and keeps within the woods, exploiting it's vast natural resources. The stories say that the eldest son of their lord, Harken Cardyyd, had a romantic relationship with a forest druid; who he left for another "normal" woman to be married to. In her anger from this betrayal, the forest druid had the trees come alive, and killed off all the people and towns within forest.
Regardless of the validity of this story one fact is true, the forest is an extensive source of natural resources. The timber of the huge trees is used to build ships, and tall buildings; while many valuable minerals lay under the roots such as gold, silver, and even small deposits of Sun-Steel. These deposits are considered the hardest to reach of the other known sources of Sun-Steel, because the massive and shifting roots of the trees can collapse mining tunnels and block passages.
Many new towns have popped up in the woods, defended by fortified keeps, constructed from imported stone.
In recent times though, the forest has been harassed by bandit clans, looking to prey on isolated mining or lumber camps. In addition, reports have been growing of greenskin encounters, and other beasts lurking in the woods. Many families now flee the woods for their safety, and the populations of the woods grow increasingly militarized to protect themselves.
