Brannon Vuin "The Beloved Lord"
Brannon vuin translated into modern Low Calradic as "The Beloved Lord" is a massive two-handed longsword, gifted to Sigvard by Godric in thanks for his service to the gods of order in their time of need. The sword is also sometimes referred to as "The Right Hand of Alesia", as this was essentially Sigvard's role/position when he received it.
The sword itself stretches the term "two-handed", as at 7' tall it is taller than most men and requires significant strength to wield properly. The hilt and handle are made of glittering gold that has magically never lost it's luster, and is wrapped at the handle by leather made from the skin of the Daemon Karnifex, who had been slain by Sigvard during the destruction of Naggarond. Inlaid in the hilt are a number of gems from across the continent, and the pommel is a massive red Ruby. The blade itself is pure @sun, and it carved with ancient and enigmatic runes. In the time since it's creation, many copies of been produced, and carried by nobility and powerful individuals. At the order of Sigvard himself, these copies were allowed, but had to have differing carvings on the blade, in order to differentiate it from the original. Due to this proliferation of copies, it is still tradition among the oldest noble families of the empire to go into battle armed with massive two-handed swords, rather than a shield. thus, this sword has directly led to the Imperial tendency to fight from horseback with massive swords, long enough to easily hack at foot soldiers or other cavalry alike from a respectable distance. This is in opposition to The Kingdom of the Swadians tradition of fighting with a lance and shield on horseback.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The runes along the blade are assumed to be the source of it's magical powers. The runes are known to be celestial in nature, but none have been able to decipher them. What is known is that the individual abilities of the blade change based on the wielder. Some Emperors have brought forth holy fire from the blade, while others have been able to heal the wounds of their comrades. The first time that each new emperor bonds with this weapon has long been considered a closely guarded secret ritual, the specifics of which are handed down from one Emperor to their successor.
History
The sword itself was used extensively in the second age, as the continent was being cleansed of the Daemon and of the monsters. However, since then it has been kept safe at the capital, and seldom actually used outside of ceremonial rituals.
Significance
Since then, it has been the symbol of holy status and divine right to rule by the Emperor of The Calradian Empire.
