Investigator

Investigator is a term used to refer to any character who is controlled by a Player: a synonym is Player Character, or PC for short. Although investigating the Mythos is usually the first duty of Investigators, being termed such does not mean that anyone within their world would necessarily view them as lowercase "investigators."
Active Investigators are those whose Players still control them in new episodes of the story. Even if they have been put on hiatus while the story focuses elsewhere, active Investigators will eventually return to the spotlight. The current cast of active Investigators is made up of Richard Akihiro, Levi Archdarchbarch, Beverly Beverly, Rudy Giuliani, Thanos Killinsprie, Lee Mercer, Mark Renning, and Nathanthew Smith-Worthson.
Former Investigators are those over whom, often by death or permanent insanity, control has been removed from their Players. They sometimes continue to take action in the story, however. Morgan Freeman Brown, Gideon Galore, Alexander Ivanov, Takeshi Kitano, and August Laine were formerly Investigators.
