Junius is a foundling, but the previous butler didn't turn him over to a Crown-controlled orphange. Raised by the butler, Junius quickly learned how to run Guardian Solace, and how to properly take care of The Doomsday Codex.
It was drilled into his head to never tell anyone he was a foundling. The daytime maids never questioned the old butler's story of his dead sister leaving her son in his care. The new maids never knew the old butler.
He has great respect for books, but is illiterate.
