The West Elf Conspiracy

One of the more curious consequences of the fall of the Elven Empire is the collation of older myths into what is commonly known as the West Elf (or Wild Elf/Wayward Elf) Conspiracy. Once many disparate theories, the now consolidated conspiracy postulates that elven conquest of Cabochon and their ebb back into the Greylands is merely one of many cyclical failures of their restless species. The prominently cited evidence theorizes elven migration from the Western Boundary to the Greylands. Anti-elven advocates claim this proves that elves are not unlike a disease; infecting its host until ultimately killing it and migrating to its next victim.   Among more disparaging slander, the following is a list of claims often reiterated:   -Elves do not rest. They can only meditate due to an innate lack control of themselves and their impulses.   -Elves are virulent. They mate ceaselessly with those around them to exact dominance through blood.   -Elves are insatiable. Unable to live peaceful lives, they thrive on conquest and war. Once they have completed their conquest, they destroy everything they control and move on.   -Elves are voracious. Lands controlled by elves grow hostile as consumption of natural resources accelerates. Monsters dredge up from their lairs and attack local settlements in protest.   -Elves are rancorous. Displeased with the stability of other cultures, elves conspire to destroy races that are not 'greyblooded' (of fey or elven origin). The desecration of tieflings at Mephistal, rapture of the halflings, the berylfolk diaspora, the conflagration of Kailia, and the sieges of Ashenfort and Moro are among most cited instances.   -Elves are guilty. All previous claims have happened before beyond the Western Boundary. After destroying their land to the west, they migrated east to start their destructive cycle again. This is why the Boundary is so dangerous, why elves claim to originally be from the Greylands, and why they refuse to talk about what's beyond Western Boundary whatsoever.   While numerous and vitriolic, the claims are circulated in private as most have positive to mixed feelings about the Elven Empire. Recent bids to fill the hole left by their empire have stoked negative sentiment only adding fuel to the conspiracy.
