The Western Boundary

Extending from the vast range to the south all the way to the Sea of Peril, the Western Boundary is though of as “limit” of useful land in the north. From what those who have seen the Boundary have witnessed is that the meadows are much drier and a still, hot air seems to be endless. For this reason, it is thought that a great savannah or desert must exist beyond it, but those who venture forward never return to speak these truths. For this reason, nearly all that travel the north are wary how far west they are traveling and often use mountains and other tall landmarks to navigate away from this unknown territory. Ancient human tales suggest that the first elves were immigrants from beyond the Boundary or perhaps refugees. Many tall tales from the Boundary permeate Cabochon and especially the Northern Wylds . One speaks of the still, hot meadows are illusions and that horrors made of its victims attack and repurpose those unfortunate the travel westward. Others speak of arid grasslands where fleets of mammoth birds feast upon the few orc and elven tribes that remain to the northwest. But most famously, so-called explorers claim that the land simply folds downward and gravity drags the witnesses into an endless abyss.
