The Northern Wylds

Once the proud lands of the Halfling, the Northern Wylds was considered by many to be a taiga paradise. Extending over a thousand square miles, temperate, taiga, and even tundra is spread over river plain, foothills, and mountains ranges. Rural and communal, Halflings were happy yet slovenly people who called this land their home. Their homes were earthenworks and offered few public works in their more populous areas.   Prideful of their natural dominance, Halflings saw the Berylfolk as creatures to be conquered… and so they were. Cuni were poisoned by strange magic and transformed into subservient lapine hulks kept as beasts of burden. These bred hulks were kept in warrens and seemed powerless to stop their captors.     Once the Halflings disappeared, the Berylfolk of old were quick to sweep in from their hidden communities. The hulks were freed and the Berylfolk swiftly defaced these Halfling co-ops. The Berylfolk see this chance to truly 'Rewyld' the North and welcome half-orcs and other downtrodden as companions in their new venture.     Today, the Northern Wylds is rife with small villages at the south and large swaths of ‘Wyld’ land everywhere else. Berylfolk, while usually taken for violent monsters, are very slowly beginning trade with the south. For this reason, Berylfolk traders are also Berylfolk salvagers, scavengers, and stealers.
