Purpose / Function

Education of those who show the most promise. Though the selection process does favor elves and half elves, none are completely barred from attending.

The main building has its roots in the original school that was on the site before it became the academy it is now.

History

It is an old institution, though not as much for elves, only going back three of their generations, but it was always a place of learning. Buildings kept being added or renovated, but the purpose remained. Due to the competitive nature of the Empire, and the desire to foster only the best to serve Umenor in whatever capacity, to become a student here is to compete against nearly all students of age in the Empire, and the process is arduous. Tests, all based on the academic pursuit the prospective student is desiring are conducted frequently and at increasing difficulty to sort through all the candidates. Even passing these tests isn't quite enough, as networking with established school organizations is also encouraged to ensure the candidate is placed in a selection spot. That being said, at any given time there are thousands of students attending classes and getting an education here. Many of the guilds in the Empire have their roots in the Academy, alumni going back generations taking important positions within the various guilds.
