The Acreolion

Purpose / Function

To entomb the Emperors and any family that pass on while they hold the throne. It is believed that the Acreolion is close to the Spirits, and it is considered a sacred underground complex.

Alterations

The further down one travels along the Silent Track the newer each tomb in the necropolis gets. Each emperor dictates before they die what they desire their tomb to look like. Some are lavishly decorated and intricately carved, while others are much more modest with little to none of either lavish decoration or intricate carvings.

Architecture

Each tomb is built into the rock to the side of The Silent Track, entrances to each tomb are carved into the rock like a relief, and each one is made to the specifications of that emperor, so not any two are identical.

History

Elves have buried their dead in the Acreolion for millenia, even before the Empire became what it is today. This sacred chasm is one of the oldest extant remnants of the history of the elves before Umenor. The Silent Track winds its way through tunnels with ancient ossuaries and markers of graves that have been carved into the rock. That is, until it opens into the chasm, the sides of which have the elaborate tombs of bygone Emperors of Umenor.
