Era beginning/end
While in Bavaria, Germany, Zarya finds herself in a little town named Lindau where there is an antique shop named Antiquitäten und Schmuck. The old shop owner there offers her a bracelet with a crystal on it, free of charge, saying that it "belongs" to her. Zarya takes the bracelet and wears it for the rest of the trip. As she's leaving the old shop owner wishes her "good luck", which Zarya finds kind of strange but ultimately she just says thank you and continues on with her vacation.
The town of Lindau, Germany is one that looks straight out of a fairy tale. The buildings are close together, the road is made of cobblestone, and beautiful flowers line many of the windows. It's easy to want to enter every building here to see if the insides are just as pretty as the outsides. However, to Zarya Li, one building caught her eye as the most prettiest of them all, a little antique shop called Antiquitäten und Schmuck. She asks her parents if they can go in for a bit to look around, to which they say yes. As Zarya enters the shop, the lady at the counter greets her and introduces herself as Sabine. She looks in her 60's and has a kind yet hardened demeanor about her. The nicest lady, however she probably wouldn't let you push her around. She also speaks very good English, to the family's surprise. Sabine remarks on what a nice little family has walked into her store and offers to read their fortunes. Zarya's parents motion her forward and tell Sabine to read her fortune. Zarya doesn't really want to do it but her parents keep on insisting so she obliges. Sabine tells her to reach out her hand and begins as if she was going to do a palm reading. Sabine closes her eyes and concentrates. Multiple scenes flash before Sabine's eyes. A group of heroes, a fight on the road, weddings, a global threat, a parting of ways, a reunion. This overtakes Sabine's senses for a bit, however once she snaps back to reality she opens her eyes and sees Zarya's family looking at her a bit worrisomely. They ask if she's okay, and she says she's fine. The following conversation follows. "You are very strong, you know that? So responsible and kind-hearted." Zarya glances back and forth unsure of how to respond. "What does her future look like, Sabine?" asks Zarya's uncle, Phil. Sabine looks as if she is searching for the words to say, and ultimately comes out with this. "This little girl will achieve great and wonderous things, both for herself and for this world." She looks down to Zarya and smiles as her parents get a sort of satisfied expression on their face. "What is your name?" she asks her "Uh, Zarya..." Zarya says hesitantly, kind of weirded out by this whole situation. "Well can I give you something, Zarya? A gift?" Sabine pulls off the bracelet on her arm that houses a small light-purple crystal and puts it on Zarya's wrist, the crystal seemingly emitting a little flash of light as this happens. "Oh wow, look at how beautiful it is, Zarya! Very pretty!" exclaims Zarya's dad "So do you like it, Zarya?" "Yeah it's very pretty, thank you." "No problem Zarya, it belongs to you now." As Zarya is about to ask why Sabine is giving it to her, her parents get a call from some other family members about meeting them somewhere. They pull Zarya away from Sabine and say that they have to go meet up with some other family and friends, but they thank her for the gift and the fortune. Sabine says it's no big deal and just as they are leaving Zarya looks back at her from the door. Sabine waves at her and says, "Die zukunft liegt jetzt in ihren händen, Zatanna." The door closes behind Zarya, and Sabine reaches under her counter and pulls out a picture that features her with some of her friends. She smiles as a single tear rolls down her cheek.
