Butt Group Universe

This world used to be a world of heroes and villians. However, it was reset in a multiversal event and now the only remnants of this world's past timeline come from the media and entertainment of this world; comics, tv shows, movies, books, etc. And from crystals scattered across the globe that harness the essences of these characters. Occasionally, weird incursions from the past world seep through into this world, and only those with these crystals are able to stop them. After the incursions are stopped, witnesses to the event who don't have crystals seem to have their memory wiped of the event. They would only happen once in a while, and because of this the users of these crystals remain generally unknown and exist only as rumors in some groups. This was the case for thousands of years, however in 2015 incursions started happening more frequently, and the memory wipe effect seemed to have less power among the populace. The activity of crystal users started to get noticed more and more, and one group of relatively new users started making headlines in New England.
