FOUNDING
In 2014, a group of cousins all came into possession of some Essence Crystals, which imbued them all with the powers of the heroes within them. Preston and Theo Chan both fought the Shocker and walked away with the Spider-Man and Red Robin crystals. Rhys and Zarya Li, while on a trip to Europe, encounter Doctor Light and manage to beat him, becoming the new Arsenal and Zatanna. After coming back from Europe in August, these four cousins happen to get together and talk about how their summers have been. Preston and Theo fake as if they didn't just have a superhero fight a couple of weeks ago. However, Rhys and Zarya reveal that in Europe they had received these crystals that gave them superpowers. Preston and Theo just smile, the former saying "No way" as they both show their own crystals. They then tell Rhys and Zarya about the attack on the Folk Festival in Lowell and how they had been patrolling the streets sometimes in case of any danger. They all laugh at the fact that they all happened to get these crystals. Preston then mentions how cool it would be if they made a sort of superhero team, and whenever they would get together they could go out and "maybe fight some crime or something." At first nobody really takes the idea seriously, until they start actually considering it. Eventually, all four of them agree to form the team. Zarya asks what they should name themselves, to which Preston responds with, "Well, we're kind of like the Teen Titans so why don't we go with that. I mean we are teens and we could be titans, so..." Rhys scoffs, "No, that's so stupid. No one would take us seriously with that name." Theo then says, "I mean, does it matter if they take us seriously when we'll be kicking their butts anyways?" "Exactly!" Preston exclaims. "Do you have any better ideas, Rhys?" Zarya asks. "Fine, I'll go with it, but only if we think of a better name down the line." "Alright then, starting now we are officially the Teen Titans!" And so it began.
