Hvalasöngur (Whalesong)

Hvalasöngur is among the few far northern settlements in all of Boros. As such, life there can be hard, but the people need to be harder to not only survive, but thrive. As the foremost whaling port of the Golíatlendir(Territory) more traffic comes through here during the height of whaling season, but the residents also keep watch over the Frostpines and the northern slopes of The Greater Cairnheels for any creatures straying too far from their own homes.

Government

The town itself is led by the chieftain, Sighing Wind, who recently completed the trials necessary to obtain the position.
She is in charge of the bulk of political processes and typically oversees many rituals ranging from simple marriage ceremonies to the maintenance of the Green Wards to stem the tide of creatures from the Frostpines. Additionally, she can call upon the heads of the various families to assist her in emergency meetings for various reasons. Sighing Wind also has a group of 5 elders who advise her along the way, known as collectively the Bough.
The members of the Bough select their replacements, but are forbidden from picking one from their own lineage. However, it is possible to pick the relative of a sitting member so long as it isn't from the outgoing members family.

Defences

There are 4 watchtowers serving as early warning for Hvalasöngur, two at the main gate, one on the northeast and southeast edges of the village near the forest. Additionally, there are a series of wards carved in stones along the perimeter of the village about 50 feet or so from the nearest free-standing structures. They form the magical aspects of the defenses needed to protect the town from supernatural threats, but they require much more maintenance, or at least, they need to be checked for signs of tampering.

Infrastructure

The firbolgs have a unique blend of druidic and clerical magics that allow them to grow trees to form certain shapes. It is by using this method that they grow their homes out of saplings that they've trained to grow into semicircular domes perfect for the cold this far north. They have some similarly for the shrubbery and mosses, using them as makeshift markers and signage.
