Fish daggers are ceremonial weapons found in most goblin cultures, particularly in Narúrt, where they form a part of high-ranking warriors along with circlets, or less commonly gifted to those who have performed heroic deeds. In some countries, these daggers are priced heirlooms, while elsewhere they are traditionally destroyed upon the owner's death.
The term fish dagger is mainly used by Terúkans and other southern narúrtic cultures, along with Kröþans in the Southlands, while Biþrans and other ones to the north call the weapon a hero's dagger, and those in Brelt to the west a victory dagger.
Single-edged and slightly curved, the shape of fish daggers is similar to those wielded in ancient times before swords and daggers with a wavy edge became more widespread in Narúrt, as well as ones used by priests and priestesses of certain goblin deities for animal sacrifices.
While fish daggers are decorated in different ways depending on the region, often adorned with gold, pearls or gems, the scabbards are always in the shape of a fish, which is is a reference to Jab1, a hero in goblin folklore. According to tradition, Jab was able to defeat an evil mage that had the power to shapeshift into animals and was invulnerable to weapons by tricking the mage into transforming himself into a harmless fish, then poured poison on it to prevent the mage from reverting to his original form. Jab then fastened the fish to his belt and used it as a scabbard.
