Joy Saffron
Joy is a Cleric of the Nature domain, dedicating her life to both her Goddess Celestina, and her faction the Children Of Gaia. She grew up in Toma, the capital of the Kingdom Of Galornia, before moving north to Veritria where the forests are more lush and green.
She has always had a natural tendency for healing, even as a kid. She used to take care of animals as a child growing up – everyone in her district used to bring her their pets when they were ill as Joy had a way of making them feel better. As she grew older, she decided to learn more about medicine and herbalism – studying under a knowledgeable wizard.
She joined the Children of Gaia soon after learning about them – travelling north to seek them out. There she made herself useful as a skilful healer to the local communities helping others. She is often sent on missions by her faction to investigate illnesses or to accompany warriors who may need healing after battle. It was on one of these missions that she met Qildor of Gilgalad, where the two of them became friends.
Joy was assigned the task of investigating the rumours of children going missing in St Austead. There she discovered that they weren’t in fact going missing, but being killed – seemingly because they were of magical attunement. This bothers her deeply and is keen, not only to discover the motives behind these awful crimes, but to also bring to justice the people responsible.
Dark Blight
Joy was contacted by her longtime friend and fellow faction member Qildor of Gilgalad in St Austead. He needed her help curing his compainion Grognak after being inflicted with some unusual kind of poison. Joy helped heal Grognak through the use of her magic and knowledge of alchemy, though she had never seen any kind of poison like this before. She explained to the group about the unusual things that had been reported to the Children of Gaia of shady people and a spate of child deaths relating to them being magically attuned. She joined the party and left the city with them after it was revealed that magic users would be arrested on sight without proper documentation. The party travelled to a town called Oakedge that had been burnt to the ground by Veritrian forces led by the Duke of Miston. There they found a small child called Alina Van De Hout who took a shine to Joy. She had lost her family, who were all killed in the destruction of the town. Travelling north, the party arrived in Myrrdin, a former Children of Gaia settlement of Druids, who now lived independently. Talking to one of the tribe elders Leshanna Sylvaranth, she conformed more reports of strange activity, including an unusual disease that was sweeping through food crops across the area. Joy decided to stay in Myrrdin whilst Balfor and Zook left to talk to the tribe leader Petrichor. During the night, a swath of undead abominations swept silently through the camp, killing many. Joy was one of the ones that tried to protect the Druid members that had been caught off guard. Unfortunately, she died whilst trying to defend them.
