Children Of Gaia
The Children of Gaia are a faction of likeminded people, of all races and nationalities from across the Known Realms, who have banded together for a noble cause – the protection and preservation of nature and life itself.
They operate in a somewhat clandestine manner due to public opinion not always being positive. The Children of Gaia’s main aims are to promote a lifestyle that is in harmony with nature and the animals that live wild and free. That doesn’t always go down with city folk, who often think that the faction would have them devolve and live in the woods with them if they could get their own way.
Whilst the Children of Gaia do look down on the mass expansion of civilisation and the greed that comes with exploiting the natural world for resources, they only try to promote the idea of harmony between civilization and nature. They are currently growing an army to resist and fight back against the destruction of nature itself, since if they won’t fight to protect it, who else will.
Structure
The faction doesn’t operate a hierarchy system, as doing so would encourage members to try to rise above the rest of the community, putting their own selfish needs before the group as a whole. Aside from the leadership of Zoria over the whole guild and her lieutenants that help communicate her orders, the members are valued by their distinctive roles that they fill instead of by rank.
History
The Children of Gaia adopted their name from the ancient word for the earth itself. Gaia is what the early races used to refer to the ground and nature, and since all races are born from nature themselves, it was only fitting to name the faction as the Children of the earth, or Children of Gaia as they later became.
Foreign Relations
Worship
The guild tends to worship three main gods – Celestina, Goddess of the Hunt, Hertha, Goddess of the Harvest and Lleu, God Of The Sun. These three gods value nature and life above the other gods, making followers of these deities more sympathetic to the Children of Gaia’s cause.
Despite the shared love of nature, these gods and their followers often clash when deciding on which direction to take the Children of Gaia. Followers of Celestina tend to be fiercer when defending the natural world itself, whereas followers of Lleu try to promote living in peace and order with the rest of the world. Followers of Hertha try to promote the best of both and trying to live in harmony between nature and civilization. They offer a good balance to help guide the faction toward their shared goals.
