Twin Bastion Geographic Location in Beyond The Rift | World Anvil

Twin Bastion

Originally named Tyrant's Berth, but renamed after the formation of the Rift in honor of its new role as the remaining bastion of light against the encroaching darkness. Twin Bastion was the first sub-sector to be founded in the wake of the discovery of the Ilyxis Sector. It contains a sizable 11 star systems of strategic importance, each with varying amounts of Imperial presence, and each bearing their own scars in the wake of the Noctis Aeterna. Some, like the accursed Malina have suffered greatly. Others, like the Gaemorra system continue to hold fast in spite of everything.

Coriolis

Coriolis takes up a central position in the sub-sector, both as a hub of relatively reliable warp routes, as in well as in its role. It is the designated rally point of whatever remains of the Imperial Fleet that was assigned to Ilyxis. Likewise, the remnants of the Explorator Fleet have made port there indefinitely.

Mizar

Mizar is a system inimical to travel. Great stellar dust clouds wrack havoc on sensors, and its enormous star pesters the system with gravity riptides. Despite that, one of its planets hosts a sizable Imperial Colony that prides itself on its capability to sustain itself during the great lengths of time traders find it hard to make it to the planet.

Shimea

This system was mostly known for its up-and-coming industrial world surrounded by a wealth of resources in the form of asteroid clusters and a belt. In the wake of the opening of the Rift, it has suffered an uprising of a disgruntled working class that has yet to be supressed. Continuing its bout of ill omens, one of the planets of the system is cloaked behind a warp storm. If that was not enough, massive gravity riptides terrorize a large portion of its surrounding space.

Malina

Malina was once a shining beacon of hope for the sector. Not only was contact successfully reestablished with a long lost knight world, but a particular fervent mission of the Ecclesiarchy had established a jewel of a shrine world there. In the decades building up the the 13th Black Crusade it suffered an invasion of a fleet of the Archenemy. Whilst the Imperial Navy successfully destroyed the invading ships, a strange payload delivered by one of the heretics sent the star into upheaval. It grew in size as if aging, swallowing the knight world. The shrine world was spared immediate destruction, but the star's violent outbursts blew off its atmosphere and turned it into a barren catacomb.

Gaemorra

Gaemorra is a rather successful colony grown to a status of Hive-world, both naturally as well as due to the influx of refugees from all over the sector. It is dominated by three massive hive cities, each controlled by a different power that vies for dominance of the hive-world itself.
