Amadis the Younger
Amadis Blackbriar the Younger
Born: 1197 Current Year: 1230 Age: 33 Title: Heir of Blackbriar, Champion of the Lance, Lord Blackbriar Race: Human Gender: MaleAppearance
Amadis the Younger is an imposing figure, standing at 6'2" and weighing 220 lbs. His strong, knightly build bears numerous scars from near-death encounters on the battlefield, lending him an air of rugged experience. His brown hair is kept tidy, and his deep brown eyes often carry a forlorn expression, as if lost in thought. Despite this, those who know him well do not consider him brooding or dour but rather contemplative and measured. His calm demeanor is complemented by a humble and approachable manner, a reflection of his father’s influence.“A scar is a reminder of a battle fought and a lesson learned. I have many, and I’ve earned every one of them.”
Personality and Values
Amadis the Younger shares his father’s humility and strong sense of noblesse oblige, believing deeply in the responsibilities of nobility to the people they serve. However, unlike his father, he takes greater pleasure in the accolades and honors earned on the battlefield and in tournaments. A champion of the lance, he has made a name for himself in tournaments and battle alike, earning respect as a skilled and courageous knight.“To lead is not to demand loyalty but to inspire it.”Despite being intelligent, Amadis recognizes that he does not possess the same extraordinary strategic brilliance as his father or the intellectual gifts of his younger sister, Sophia. This awareness has left him both proud of his family’s accomplishments and resigned to always living in their shadow. He is brave—at times, almost foolhardy according to his detractors—and carries himself with a quiet confidence that inspires those who follow him.
“Yeah he’s good, but maybe if he learned how to parry properly he wouldn’t look like he tried to headbutt a millstone.”Sir Berringer of the West while reminiscing about his adoptive brother.
Skills and Accomplishments
Lord Blackbriar, Amadis the Younger, has endured the harshest and most rigorous training the kingdom can offer, proving himself a worthy successor to his father. He rose to fame as a master of the lance, solidifying his reputation during the final battle against House Golitsyn. In that battle, he faced off against and killed the heir of House Golitsyn in a joust, a feat that secured his place in the annals of Gorundia’s history. Though he is best known for his skill in the saddle, Amadis is also a capable tactician and skilled in the broader arts of war. Some consider him a prodigy, while others whisper that his reputation is bolstered by the propaganda and hubris of House Amadis.Family Relationships
“Bloodlines mean little when weighed against bonds forged in trust and love. Sir Berringer is my brother in every way that matters.”
Recent Developments
The recent revelation of Sir Berringer’s true heritage as a Vogel has unsettled Amadis, as it has implications for the family’s dynamics and future. While he accepts Berringer as a brother, the knowledge of his bloodline adds a layer of complexity to their relationship, particularly given the Vogels’ history and standing. At the same time, Amadis feels the pressure of his own responsibilities as heir. The need to secure a marriage and produce heirs weighs heavily on him, yet his search for a bride who matches his intellect and ideals has left him disheartened.“Duty calls me to marry and continue the line, but I want more than duty—I want a partner who can truly stand beside me.”

History
Having grown up together in House Amadis the two have maintained a healthy rivalry as brothers and often competed for their parents attention. Having served together in war the two have a deep respect for each other. In the aftermath of the war Amadis the Younger would be the one to recover Beringer from the battlefield shocked and horrified at what the two had done to each other. If Elizaveta haunts Sir Beringer's dreams, the blood soaked pair must haunt Amadis the Younger.
History
The two had a uneasy but respectful relationship. While Amadis the Younger respected his mothers decision to invite Elizaveta into their home it was clear he was uncomfortable with her being so close to the family. For Elizaveta's part she worked hard to prove herself worthy of House Amadis' trust. Eventually the two would become somewhat cordial but would never bond. At the close of the Amadis-Golitsyn House War Amadis the Younger would be the one to find Beringer still impaled on Elizaveta's spear and clutching her remains.
