Deep Lake

Deep Lake is the name given to the body of water at the west end of the river system that includes Pit Lake, near to the town of Elmont . Local residents claim that the center "has no bottom, least none that we can find", hence its name. Most years the fishing is good, enough so that the pike and a silver fish resembling steelhead make up a sizable portion of Elmont's meat consumption.
