Ashtown

A town perpetually covered in fresh ash from Blackcloud Peak to its west, resting on the banks of the Shayle Stream. The people here are hardworking and sour-natured, respecting the actions of a person rather than their presumed social standing.

Demographics

Around 70% of the population are Drow Elves & Duegar. The remaining 30% is made up of Mountain Dwarves, Rock Gnomes, Orc-kin & Humans.

Government

The town has an appointed leader sent from Mistvale. This representative is both a spiritual leader & political, ensuring that Shadrona's laws are followed. They are referred to as "High Lord/Lady" depending on the gender of the leader. As of the year 1262, the town has been overseen by High Lord Valter Flathammer, a somber Mountain Dwarf in his later years.

Defences

The Dynasty has a small detachment of soldiers kept here to keep the peace, these are switched on a weekly basis with troops from Sipdale Fortress to the East. There is a small perimeter wall no larger than 3ft tall around most of the edges. The townhall has the greatest fortification being one of the few buildings made of stone.

Industry & Trade

The main industry here is hunting, with small amounts of trade between Ashtown itself, Duskvale & the rest of the Dynasty.

Assets

Sitting on the Northern Banks of the Shayle Stream has given Ashtown  a unique advantage for a village of its size, the river allows quick, safe travel to Mistvale. The river also provides ample fishing opportunites for the village, and hunters venture out north into the Drund Glenns to hunt large game.

History

The town was founded as a supplying station while the Sipdale Fortress was constructed. After the fortresses completion many of the workers decided to stay and start a life under the ashcloud from Blackcloud Peak.

Geography

Nestled between Blackcloud Peak and The Cloudtops to the West & East respectivly means that the town is often subjected to heavy rainfalls that are forced down the narrow valley. Meltwater from The Cloudtops swells the Shayle Stream in the spring. The soil here is dark and rich with nutrients from the everfalling ash.
