Summer Camp 2023 Pledge

This is my second summer camp, and while I likely won't have as much time to write/worldbuild as I did last year, I think silver is still a reasonable goal. I still have a lot to flesh out in my world, so I'm not focusing on any particular area of the world; nor am I too worried about finding ideas to fit in with the prompts.

I also want to try and make a few art pieces during June based on the themes that I can hopefully implement into my summer camp articles. I've been getting back into drawing, and many of my articles end up being a bit text-heavy anyway so it'd be nice to add more visuals to this year's summer camp articles.

Lastly, I'd also like to try and be more active both on the discord, and in reading and commenting others' articles.

Sidenote Goal: Last year for a few articles, I did more narrative pieces, or just straight-up wrote some experimental thing based on how I was feeling/inspired at the time, and while not all of those were popular pieces, they were by far the articles I most enjoyed writing and put the most love and effort into. I'd like to spend a few prompts doing that this summer camp as well, because I really like having some of my summer camp work be my own kinda cathartic writing.

Theme Preparation

Power
Power is a heavy theme in the books I'm writing anyway, so this theme lends itself very easily to Beourjen. There are a number of organizations and people that still need to be written, as well as several resources and positions that are involved in the distribution of power throughout the world.

There are also several aspects of religion/divinity, and its relation to power, that I have yet to write, so I'm hoping to use this slew of prompts in part for that. I've touched on Pyramism in a very basic sense, but haven't really gotten into the broken sects which hold precedence in different areas of the world.

Some ideas for power articles:
House Duxtour, Gwyneth Duxtour, House Ryker, Moagher Extract, Nonveritable Progeny, Daeravitch Dynasty, Casper, Beatrix, Lunar Duality, Mount Avenstern, Attalux, Aveaas

Frontier
Frontier is a bit trickier for me, I think simply because I'm getting caught up in thinking about the physical aspect of the words as opposed to the more figurative. Beourjen definitely has frontiers - both in its geopraphy and settlements, as well as technologically speaking, however I haven't delved into either too much.

I'm still trying to stick to the one continent I've got going now, but within that there is considerable conflict along the Beourjen, Ethanian, and Jzarmillan borders that could serve as frontiers, either currently or historically. Also, because my magic system is so heavily integrated with technology in several cases, different aspects of that might work for the frontier prompts.

Basically, this category is one I'll probably be twisting and/or stretching considerably to fit my interests, so I'm not going to think too hard about it right now.

Some ideas for frontier articles:
Yrvaega, The Ardonas, Attalux, Bloodbonding/Pyramisic Inking, D'Aurouren, Chamberv

Relic
This is probably the theme I'm most excited for, as most of the immediate worldbuilding I'm looking into is history and legends. I mentioned it in power as well, but I'm aiming to somewhat moreso flesh out the religious aspects of Beourjen. Considering the pantheon is so tied to the history of the world itself, there are several areas of interest that should fit into the theme of 'relic', not to mention that I also need to delve into more recent history a bit more too.

It's not my top priority, but I'd definitely be open to doing a few articles related to the Imperium, which I feel most obviously relates to relics. Of course, there are a few other places from which I might take ideas as well - The first Aveaan Empire, and the orvon Wars of Liberation come to mind.

Some ideas for relic articles:
Yvarda Rain, the Marnise Letters, Golden Aveaas, the Daeravitch Dynasty, Seraphic Armory, Cintorian Fields, Sanguirev, Gwyneth Duxtour, Aveaan Empress

Communication
Communication is also a big theme for my writing, although I feel like it overlaps so heavily with the other themes, that it might be tricky for me depending on the prompts themselves, so I'm not going to think too hard about this theme prior to summercamp either.

For immediate ideas, there are several aspects of communication within the city of Mareve that I definitely still need to think through, and I should flesh out the global method of communication. I'm tempted to do the Cravvik language for one prompt, because I've already put considerable thought into it conceptually, but conlanging is also incredibly daunting to me. My other issue is that there are a lot of little communication details throughout Beourjen that I need to put down, but that don't really need individual articles, so I might just use those ideas more as jumping-off points.

Some ideas for communication articles:
Reserves, Sepulchre, Annalist Falkren, Red Dawn, Bloodbonding/Pyramisic Inking

Nnie's Camp Chill Guidelines

- Remember the prompts are suggestions, not requirements.

- Write what you're passionate about, leave what you aren't.

- Relax when you feel tired.

- Fight off any pesky brain-squitos trying to make you doubt your work.

- Don't abandon your non-summercamp goals! Write that article you're itching to write, even if it doesn't fit any prompts.

Good luck on your quest for the Silver badge! You've got this :D any favourite article templates you're looking out for when the prompts are revealed?

Thanks! I don't really have a preference for article templates, aside from maybe a few character prompts - I have quite a few characters I still need to write articles for, and it gives me an excuse to draw more people :)

Good luck with your goal of Silver, you got this. You already have some ideas of things to write on, which is honestly more than I can say. Don't worry about twisting or stretching the prompts, that is half the fun of summer camp.

Feel free to stop by some of my WorldEmber articles if you want. My favorites are The Book of the Unquiet Dead, Outpost of the Moons, and The Emerald Hills. Feedback is always appreciated.

Thanks, and good luck on diamond! And yeah, twisting the prompts (and seeing how other people twist them) is one of my favorite parts of summercamp :)
