The Founding Feast

The Founding Feast is a tradition among the minotaurs, at least those in Hammerock. The feast is a coming-of-age celebration and rite of passage it is to show that a young minotaur is ready to become an adult, both ready and able to provide for his or her clan and his family. The Founding Feast involves the minotaur going out and foraging and hunting for all the components of the feast, from berries and spices to meats and fish they have to show skill in survival and hunting.
From there the family or clan of the minotaur will prepare the feast with the supplies they are given, ideally there is a desire to bring back something rare or particularly impressive to be the centerpiece of the feast. There are certain rules that have to be observed, killing a creature from a farmer's field is against the rules, it has to be something you hunted the exception being if your skill in hunting is the payment for a farmer's creature. It is not uncommon for a farmer to pay the Minotaur with cattle for slaying a beast that threatens the existence of the entire herd. The hunters should take care to avoid young creatures, and those that could be a hazard to the clan such as those with venoms or poison inherent to their nature even the ones who use it as an offense rather than defense are to be avoided.
Once the feast is prepared and presented the leader of the clan will assess what has been brought and will deem it acceptable or not and if it is acceptable they will induct the minotaur as a full adult into the clan. It should be said it is rare but other species can become part of a minotaur clan and would have to take part in The Founding Feast to earn status within the clan.
