Khaldran Organization in Belthuran | World Anvil

Khaldran

Most of the Dwarves look down on the Khaldran as any other exiles, this is mostly because of the values pushed on them by the priesthood of the Dwarves who cling staunchly to tradition. The Hand as they are known are the guiding force of Dwarven morality and what is acceptable by their traditions. Should a Dwarf from Hammerock meet a Khaldran Dwarf there is likely to be a great deal of animosity between the two as the Hammerock Dwarf will feel the Khaldran Dwarf is a dishonorable sort while the Khaldran is offended by the notion that they are dishonorable due to actions of another or their own wrongful exile.

Structure

The Khaldran are ruled by a High King, sometimes known as the Fyre Lord who has three advisors that consist of a Chronicler whose duties include past rulings but also the history of the Khaldran and knowledge of the world. The Lord of Metal is the best smith of the Khaldran who represents the artisans of the Khaldran. Finally in a strange twist for dwarves the High Arcanist as the Khaldran are trying to more openly embrace magic into their lives after it helped them establish their lives. The current High Arcanist is a Ursandian human who helped liberate the Khaldran Fortress from the former inhabitants and serves as a teacher for the aspiring Khaldran mages until such a time a dwarf is able to replace him.

Culture

The Khaldran palce a great deal of value on the blood of the covenenant perhaps even more so than that of family. Many of the Khaldran have family that once turned their back on them and only with help from friends did they get to where they are now, so many of the Khaldran treat their close friends as true family.   An important part of their culture is that everyone has something to do, if one Khaldran struggles they all do. Many of the Khaldran bear the wounds of being alone and exiled having to live in strange and not always friendly lands and to survive they learned to rely on each other.   Fire has grown to have a special fascination to the Khaldran but that is to be expected given the peculiar nature of the Khaldran Fortress, the most noteable being that it sits on a weak point between the material plane and the plane of fire.

History

The Khaldran are all exiles of Hammerock the main populace of which were helped by the Rustbeard family and sent to live near Addersfield in Rhyderia while they worked to find a new home for the exiled dwarves. When a group of Rhyderian's and Ursandian's volunteered to help the Rustbeards and the exiles retake the groups worked together to assail the ruined fortress with might of metal and magic they reclaimed the Fortress and began the process of fortifying it again.   Not all dwarves who would find their way to the Khaldran's fold initially took the offer of the Rustbeards to help them, they were shamed too greatly to feel they even could be near other dwarves let alone ask them for such kindness. These drifters worked menial jobs for little pay just to survive. Eventually they would either miss the company of other dwarves and head to join the Khaldran or turn to crime or dishonorable actions and would be refused by the dwarven communities for they had made themselves what they were falsely accused of.

Foreign Relations

Overall the Khaldran are reclusive but welcoming to new comers in particular other exiles or those seeking to escape the tyranny of the Hand. In an unexpected move the Khaldran Fyre Lord reached out to Xoln with a request to be have the Draz Tyran teach them magic. While no official response has been sent there have been Drazgorra emissaries arriving at the Khaldran Fortress to evaluate just how serious the Khaldran are.

Trade & Transport

High quality metal is traded with Ursand for a great deal of lumber as well as food coming in. While the trade route is dangerous it is also very lucrative as that kind of quality dwarven metal sells for a great deal around the continent and the dwarves always pay their bills on time as a point of principle.

Priesthood

The Fyre Sages are the priesthood of the Khaldran.
