The Tempest

Storm god, Jakhobelynn Airmane, The god of Vengeful skies

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral   Portfolio: Storms, Strength, & Destruction   Worshippers: Barbarian tribes, survival of the fittest types   Alignments: CG, CN, CE   Weapon: Tempest – Double axe   The god of storms is not widely worshiped but he is given homage by travelers, farmers, sailors, and those who rely on good weather. He is not inherently evil but is quick to anger at perceived insults and if a farming community does not offer proper tribute, he could send a tornado at them, or a hurricane for a sailor. While he does have power over storms there is some power shared with the water goddess over the creation of hurricanes and tsunamis. He teaches his followers a reverence of nature and the power of storms as well as the fury of nature. He desires his followers to be strong and to bring about swift destruction to those who deserve it. His followers have only a few static places of worship and generally wander looking for their patron’s blessing in storms, or work on ships to allow safe passage.   The Tempest appears as a larger humanoid-like those of the northern mountains, covered in tattoos and fur armor while wielding a massive double axe that seems to be made of storm clouds with lightning bolts covering the blades. A large black beard covers his scarred face as well as an eyepatch over his right eye, long black hair comes down past his shoulders.

Holy Books & Codes

The holy scrolls of the Tempest are known as the Scrolls of Tempestus there are 10 in total, each has some new part of the tenants of faith and how the followers of the Tempest should strive to constantly be better. It is said that each of the scrolls resides with a different species to force followers to seek out answers from other sources.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A double axe, the blades shaped like clouds with electricity crackling along the edges.

Tenets of Faith

Constantly seek to improve, stagnation is death growth is life. The weak perish and the strong survive. Some challenges are beyond a person, it is not a sign of weakness to ask for aid so long as they still try. (an example being a farmer protecting his home from bandits and asks others to help, the farmer couldn't defend their farm without help and as long as they do help they are not weak.) It is better to die striving for greatness than to suffer a coward's death wasting away.

Holidays

The Tempest's holy day is called one of two things depending on the mood of the Tempest ‘Squall’s Dawn’ or ‘Zephyr’s Rest’. His clerics can determine which of these days will be celebrated, each is at the start where the rain seasons should begin. If it is Zephyr’s Rest than it will be a generous and calm rainy season good for crops and travel. Squall’s Dawn is celebrated in hopes to get the Tempest to change his mind as it signals a season of massive and damaging storms as the Tempest rages over a slight made against him. In either case, a large farmer’s market-style event is held in every settlement that celebrates the event in hopes to appease the Tempest with a generous sacrifice and showing how they benefited from a calm season.
