Divine Domains

Baronie is the god of the Golinae, wealth, defenses, and of self assurance. His domain is not as direct as those of some other gods and he is oft associated as a god who influences chance instead of directly altering the outcome. For instance, he might make it so a Golinae merchant seem a bit more charismatic to his clients but he wont make him irresistible, or make rolling a 6 on a die more likely but not definite. Because of this, his followers will oft donate vast amounts of offerings to him to make the chance of getting the outcome that they want in certain situations more and more likely, with more offerings being associated with better luck.   He is also considered a god of storge, or familial love, and many families had an effigy of him in their homes to improve relations among one another.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The divine symbol of Baronie is the Doelenoog, or bullseye. It is generally a pangolin that rolled itself up with a white circle on its back to draw the eye away from the exposed face. The meaning behind this symbol is rather straight forward ''keep your guard up''. It is oft used as a warding symbol against evil spirits and embodies the major theme of the Baronian religion, that is, to make sure one is safe through duplicity and wits instead of just one's physical abilities, while still being confident of one's physical abilitie to keep them safe alongside their wits.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Over the last few centuries, Baronie has suffered greatly emotionally. Many of his children have turned their backs on him in favor of The Raven, his brothers are in a struggle to keep their own children and followers loyal from outside the Crystal Sphere, and the multi-spherical powers seem to have it out for the weakened pantheon. While he and his fellows do not suffer from the loss of followers physically, the stress has been a major issue for Baronie and he has more and more oft sought refuge with Krtsk of the Sane Gods for comfort.   In spite of all this, his goals have changed… little. He is still in pursuit of comfort and wealth for his children, but he has changed his goals. As he can no longer interact with the world directly, not even as much as he used to, he has send out visions and messages to pious followers of his to pursue ways to reopen the Sphere, if only for a moment, so he can slip through the opening and return to his children.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Baronie is in peak physical condition in every form he takes. Preferring his rounder and hunched Golinae form, his scale are shiny and unblemished, his snout long and firm, and his tail strong and wide.

Identifying Characteristics

While its not common for other races to even notice, Baronie has a very artificial looking scale pattern when in Golinae form. To Golinae, his scales are more reminiscent of the roof of a house rather than actual Golinae scales.

Apparel & Accessories

More oft than not, when interacting with Mortal-kin he will be dressed in a large number of regalia, oft made of his sacred metals Bismuth and Chromium, such as necklaces, bracelets, crowns and other such items. His favorite, and most iconic, accessory, however, is the Ring of Invulnerability. This magic artifact was a chromium ring with a diamond shaped piece of bismuth in its front center and back center and could be worn by any creature and when worn by Mortal-kin would give resistance to all damage regardless of its nature or how it was inflicted, giving full immunity to a kind of damage the wielder was already resistant to.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Ages ago, before the Elemental Chaos melded and shaped itself into the Prime Material, there was naught but Madness. This madness was, in a way, aware. It was not alive, per se, but it was conscious of the state it found itself in and the Chaos that surrounded it.
Aware of the horrors of its birth, it struck itself down, tearing its own heart into three equal pieces. The ancient texts speak of how the core of the three, the piece that had not yet been pained by the Elemental Chaos as much as the other two fragments, fled the harshest of the realm to the plane of Magma, hiding in the fields of flame which cooled and created a strong shell of Earth that protected the warm heart inside.
After the mind and body of the fragment shaped itself into what is now known as the God of Avarice, he heart was still hollow in a way it could not fill with gemstones nor with bright flames. He knew that something was missing and, in an effort to fill the void, traveled to where he felt his heart pulled him. Grazing the fields of Elysium to fill his hunger, bathing in the flames of Ysgard to warm his skin, and, finally, arriving at Limbo, where he met his brethren, the God of Ruination and the God of Pandemics.
For millennia, the brothers explored the realms of their power. Avarice became Greed and then Wealth, Ruination became Destruction and then Extermination, and Pandemics became Contagion and then Disease. As they rampaged throughout the infinite Chaos of Limbo, their identity became more and more distinct, and they even gained names of their own. The God of Wealth gained the name Baronie, meaning Duchy in Schubbig, the God of Extermination was named Que'Tar, meaning The Tar in the common Tarrasqueborn, and the God of Disease became Karles, meaning Recovery in Undercommon.
After millions of years of a monstrous rampage through Limbo, sometimes halted by rest and gaiety, their lair was stolen away by a group of foreign spirits whose faces were unknown to even Karles, the wisest of the three brothers. These spirits claimed to have stopped a Limboan incursion into the Prime Material, but this did not matter to the brothers who simply wanted to a lair to sleep and feast between their century long rampages. To appease the brothers the spirits promised them that they would form the plug that used to be their lair alongside one another, a promise the brothers made great use of.
Baronie choose to focus mainly on the formation of the world of Bator itself, using his shells to create plant life and animals that would populate the world, which would be guided by the spirits, and use his skin to form the plates of the planet to cover the blood that flowed from Que'Tar. After finishing his works on nature, he began feeling lonely for his brothers had not yet finished their work on the world. In his boredom he sought new companions to fill the void till his brothers were done.
These companions would be like their creator more so than any other creature. At first, Baronie simply recreated himself near perfectly with clay and his spittle, crafting the first Golinae which he grew attached to quickly. These creatures were innocent, highly resistant to damage, and as witty as their father wished he was himself, but were slow, cowardly, and a little slothful due to the influence of their father.
Having learned from this previous attempt, Baronie turned to Krtsk to create a new people who would take the wit and defenses that the Golinae already had but more powerful and more daring and confrontational. Together, the two gods crafted the first dragons, with Baronie creating the first Metallic Dragon and Krtsk creating the first Chromatic dragon. Within the dragons burned a fire that would later evolve into different elements and a skin as that of Baronie himself, but were far more intelligent than the Golinae and had a highly efficient mind and aptitude for memory, though they were highly aggressive and competitive due to their conflicting natures of Sanity and Madness. Baronie would later also help in the creation of Tlincalli and Tortles, but that is a story for another time.
For the next few millennia, the story of the God of Wealth enmeshed itself with those of the Sane and the Mad, only truly branching off in minor ways or in far off myths that were left to be unconfirmed or denied by him or his church. He was involved in various events, such as the murder of Dodenman by Nevremeto when he revealed Nevremeto's betrayal to Que'Tar and prepared the arena where the Hungering one and the Rotting One would battle, but rarely had an active role in them, instead staying in the background and weathering any results of his schemes as he silently influences the events to improve the inevitable result of his brother's actions.
Over time his influence waxed and waned as his followers spread his faith, purges were enacted on them, some Golinae cults broke off to worship their draconic brothers, and other such events. The biggest boom in worship of The Immovable was the Spelljammer Launch during the Era of Gods, when the Abandoned Realm was opened to the Phlogiston and the further Prime Materials in the multiverse, allowing the realm's faiths to spread and flourish on other worlds as well as on Bator. On some worlds, he became known as Pluto, while on others as Vergadin, and on others Astilabor, but always associated with wealth and dragons in some form.
During the Era of Nobility, he became a very important deity as accumulating vast amounts of wealth in one's new kingdom or duchy became important when the other thousands of new competitors were in the process of doing the exact same thing and having a god who could greatly increase the chance of finding success and victory through sheer luck was a great boon. He was especially worshiped on the continent of Machmah Pluct where the Drow matriarchies dedicated entire nations to be completely recreated in his image and his faith almost challenged Lolth in political influence and power.
As many things did, this time came to an end when the Golden Eye Crusade charged through the capital of Baronian worship, the city of Bovendam, in an effort to exterminate the ''heretics'' there. The Golden Eye had focused on exterminating followers of the Mad Gods with a particular fervor on his crusades for Maglubiyet, and the Baronian cults bore the blunt of his aggression, ending their Bismuth age. After the Sacking of Bovendam, fear besat the followers of Baronie as the eternal threat of the Golden Eye coming to their city or town and raising it to the ground to exterminate any more worship of the god became a very real threat to them, and while this did not have much of an impact on his physical power as a god it did none the less affect his standing among the other gods and he was demoted to the status of Lesser deity by Acr'Aldr when his active worshipers became less than 10,000.
To put a cherry on top of the cake of horribleness, after just a few decades of Baronie actually regaining some of his old power on Bator, The Castle of The Raven's Loft collided with Bator and send the planet back to the stone age. Ever since then Baronie has send out a few of his agents to other worlds and planes to find loopholes, tears, and rifts in the magic that keep Bator separate from the rest of the multiverse, all the while trying to create some pockets of worship on other spheres to ensure that if a loophole could be torn into a whole new opening they cpuld flood into their deity's homeland and repopulate the world.

Accomplishments & Achievements

To Baronie, any achievement of Dragons, Golinae, or his other children are, partially, his own achievements, to the point where its not uncommon for him to actively send rewards to his followers when they achieve something as thanks for increasing his own status.

Failures & Embarrassments

Due to his slow pace to take action, Baronie, generally, has little he is embarrassed about and when he ''fails'' at a task he rather views it as a success in learning how to avoid it in the future, meaning he has little reason to consider anything embarrassing.

Morality & Philosophy

Baronie, when creating the Golinae and Dragons, based them explicitly on what he wishes he himself was. He wishes to be wiser than he thinks he is, to be more intelligent, and to be well with people. He believed that his children should get whatever they needed to create perfect lives for themselves, and this paternal instinct is the core of his philosophy. To him, it is the duty of the deities are the same to those of parents to their children, to protect Mortal-kin and allow them to thrive and even ascend to surpass the gods themselves one day.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

For millions of years, Baronie has only known his family. His brothers and children mean everything to him and everything he does it for them. Even when his own morality conflicts with those of his brothers he would never think to turn his back on them. Even when an opportunity to increase his own status and power, such as when he was asked to join The Alliance of the Sane Gods, he would rather be obliterated and spit in the face of who offered if taking it up meant turning against his children and especially if its against his brothers.

Likes & Dislikes

Baronie is well recorded to enjoy the taste of an eclipse and to bathe in asphalt, describing the former like being home in the Elemental Chaos and the latter as reminding him of the times from before the Conjoining became political.

Virtues & Personality perks

Baronie is fair to a default. While he is not lawful by nature, he believes that every living creature deserves compensation for sacrifices made and effort spent.   He is also a loving deity, believing that love is the path to happiness more-so than anything else and is a firm supporter of necromancy used to truly resurrect and so opposes necromancy used to just animate bodies.

Vices & Personality flaws

Baronie is a very… sedentary being. He believes that things that are uncomfortable should be steered clear from unless they HAVE to be endured. Anything more than that is a true waste of valuable comfort time. Because of this, he is oft lazy and would rather buy his way out of effort than anything else.

Social

Family Ties

Baronie has no direct ancestors or descendants but he does have two siblings. Que'Tar and Karles, the gods of Tarrasques and disease respectively, were born with him before the dawn of time in the Elemental Chaos and have been together ever since, through Chaos and Madness and Darkness they always stand together and they have become the greatest of allies.

Wealth & Financial state

Baronie, being the old Batorian deity of wealth, is considered to be the most wealthy god of Bator, having accumulated vast amounts of platinum and gems in his vault on the plane of Elysium through countless ages of offerings, tithes, his own business dealings, and as a reslt of rampages through Limbo. Being one of the main contributors in the creations of Batorian dragons, he, technically, owns a part of every draconic horde.
