The conjoining of the Mad Gods

Structure

The chaotic nature of the conjoining leaves the hierarchy within it a constant arms race based on the amount of worshipers each god has and the raw power of each which decides who is in charge of who and vice versa. Any disagreements or grabs for power are handled in battles of strength and ferocity as the involved parties either compare their destructiveness in a shared rampage across Limbo or in a duel where the winner is the one that subdues the other.

Culture

The Mad Gods are a lose pack of Greater and intermediate deities that all have a collective, single duty: to rampage in Limbo. They each have their own domains and aspiration besides this, but keeping Limbo, and all chaotic planes, in check in their chaotic slaughter is what will be put first at all times.   Because of this, the culture of the host, as well as their worshipers, is one of, surprising, duty and selflessness. It is made up of gods that range from evil conquerors, what can best be described as Kaiju, to lords of light but they all share the sense that no matter how they act outside of their designated lairs and Limbo, inside these they are brothers and sisters in arms which guard themselves and all they know from being overwhelmed by pure Chaos. From here they all hold a sense of, if begrudging, respect and camaraderie which is expressed in their shared rampages, great feasts on the spoils of their actions, and whatever affairs and demigods they sire with one another in their throws of passion.

Public Agenda

The conjoining of the Mad Gods, as mentioned previously within this document, is to hold the Chaotic planes of the multiverse in check. They do this by inflicting such damage upon them that they can not use their resources to expand and have to constantly heal themselves. Any and all goals outside of this, such as the goals of individual members, is considered unimportant unless it is on as big a scope as their main objective, such as stopping another multiverse threatening force.

Assets

The conjoining, due to its nature as a pantheon of gods, owns very little in and of itself but has many different temples, cities, mounds of treasure, and orders dedicated to it, as well as many such assets dedicated to its individual members. However, the conjoining does hold a direct ownership of a number of different planes, strongholds, and lairs across the Great Wheel.   Its headquarters, The Pit of Tar, is located on the plane of Shadow, where their shared paradoxical Chaos within Order grants a beacon of light that tears up the shadow around them, providing a bright haven for the whole host to meet and conduct their business, as well for any lost travelers within Shadespace that might stumble upon it. It is located here as it is both neutral grounds between good and evil and a plane of minimal chaos, meaning the host does not have to ruin the plane whenever they arrive.   Beside The Pit, the conjoining holds about 16 different lairs, one in each plane, which are upheld by their minions and individual members that oft use the lairs as bases for their own purposes

History

The conjoining was not always the structural pantheon it is now; It began as the three gods Que'Tar, Baronie, and Karles which rampaged through Limbo. The origin of these ''Gods'' is poorly understood, as there is no true evidence of where they came from, and theories range from them being some kind of deliberately forgotten deities to beings birthed from Elemental Chaos to bring order to it but which escaped and sought their purpose in another plane, but what is known is that, due to their cooperation in the creation of Bator and their obvious effectiveness in keeping Limbo in check, the multi-spherical gods granted them a wider purpose, in the duty of keeping all planes of Chaos within their bounds, and the Pit of Tar in Shadespace as a permanent lair so they would not have to cross the boundary between the material and the Immaterial now that their old lair became Bator.   From then on, the Pantheon grew, each god adding to the merriment and bringing something to the rampage. First, the Medusae god and goddess of Storms and Shelter Vdome and Nevremeto joined, bringing comfort to the Pit and ferocious lightning to the rampages. Next, the Goblinoid god of wildebeests KaNikHop that brought food and monsters. Third, the Triton god of seafaring and navigation Kolas Aquath bringing tactics to the rampage and allowing the Conjoining to find its way to the pit easier.   And so it went on and on, with gods joining in the host at a rate of at least 3 a millennia, creating the multi-spherical religious crusade on Chaos by Chaos that is known today among the Externis Orbium, only suffering a few controversies throughout its histories on its own, with the worst being when Nevremento tricked and overthrew one of the former Lords of Madness Dodenman before being overthrown in kind by Que'Tar.   It was involved in various wars that affected the Externis Orbium and the Abandoned Realm but those involved so many other factions and involved parties it would become to complex and the Conjoining to not involved for this article.   Finally, The Collision affected the Conjoining as much as it did everyone else. Not only did it wipe out a large chunk of their worshipers, not only did it almost completely cut them off from the Abandoned Realm, not only did it make their duty to keep Chaos in check much harder since Bator was their nexus of travel, but it also forced many of the gods of the Conjoining to abandon many of their child races which caused much stress and tension within the Conjoining as everyone had different ideas about and problems with the situation.   All this culminated in the Coup De Mád. A great fight where all gods, excluding Baronie and Karles who fought WITH Que'Tar, challenged Que'Tar subsequently for his position of Lord of Madness, so they could enact their wishes for Bator, which greatly exhausted and drained him, even if he remained the Lord afterwards.

The horrors of Limbo, the Phlogiston, nor even death compare to those found under ones own shoe.
