The Alliance of the Sane Gods

Structure

The Alliance is the epitome of organisation and hierarchy within divine organization. It consists of countless layers of governance, each subdivided into equally as countless minor positions which work with one another like cogs in a near infinite machine. To summarize them all would be to summarize a spheres entire ecosystem to the tiniest microbe, therefore i'll simply be listing the 6 plenipotentiaries of each major layer.

                                The House of betrayed

Also known as The layer of justice, the layer is governed by the Human god Amaunator Keeper of Law, who serves as the head judge of the layer. His duties are to mediate official disputes between powerful mortals, regulate warfare, and to be the judge when a mortal declares themselves to be unjustly treated and/or betrayed by another mortal, in which case they can appear before Amaunator with the offending party and hold trial to prove their case and be compensated when declared correct. The house is meant to uphold the laws of morality, a task massively more difficult now than ever as the securities of civilization that allowed morality to be important have disappeared since The Collision, and ensure that all sapient creatures are ensured an unbiased and equitable and fair trial for the wrongdoings of others. He is served by an army of 10,000 Arcadian Avengers, each of which holds a position for itself within the hierarchy of the layer, which do so as they were personally chosen to do so by Amaunator for their exceptional will, determination and ability to remain unbiased as jury and execution traits close to his own heart.

                                The House of criminals

Oft called The House of torturers as well as The House of penitence, and even the ignored house, this layer is ruled over by the Golinae God Lege-Schulp the Retribution. It is its duty within the pantheon to make the sinners of the Abandoned Realm repent by inflicting upon them the same that they inflicted upon others. It does not do this to all sinners, however, as the sinners must have not been punished for their actions in life, must have been declared unfit for other realms that serve similar purposes, such as the Nine Hells or the Abyss, and have not been pardoned by other gods. Because of this, it will most oft punish rapists and those who corrupt the worship of gods to fit their intent, especially if that clashes with the actual gods being worshiped. Unsurprisingly, this majority of sinners Lege-Schulp deals with has made the House of Criminals known for dealing with heretics and pederasts more than anything, to the point the servants of the house are mostly redeemed heretics themselves. Speaking off, the House is served by a legion of 500 Witte Wijven, each that holds its own important position within the layer, that repent for their crimes against the Gods in life with their service.

                                The House of wilds

Also known as The House of beasts, this layer is ruled over by the Elven Deity Sereté the Old Mint who watches over the natural order of The Abandoned Realm and maintains the balance between civilization and the wild. Served by 2,000 dryads which she spreads across the sphere to serve and protect specific aspects of nature, such as the spreading of plant seeds or ensuring a predator can kill its prey and feed its offspring. The House also ensures that Nature does not interfere with the order of civilization and that it does not run rampant, although those duties are neglected due to the current lack of civilization to interfere with.

                                 The House of deceased

Oft called The House of no return, this layer is governed by the god of the organized demise Krtsk the Blessed Carapace and archivist of the sacred. This House is an unending scribery, where an army of dead souls and furies record the lives and deaths of all mortals of the Abandoned Realm in such precision that the last mistake, a mere typo in the name of a peasant, was in the year 3989 B.C. Krtsk is perhaps the most active of Gods within the Alliance when it comes to his duties within the house he governs, safe of Primus and Asmodeus themselves, as, unlike most other gods that have their own plans in other planes and spheres, he spends all his time in The House doing his works of recording the dead. These millennia of isolation have taken their toll upon the god, however, as his mind has deteriorated and his more... primal aspects have taken a foothold in his mind. He is still a wise god, but, as his scribes can attest, he has grown distant and thinks more in terms of numbers and age than in people and lives. The House is responsible for up-keeping the laws of life and death and making sure that the undead and resurrected remain a manageable group, which its accomplish by constantly changing the requirements to resurrect someone as well as sending its agents to destroy the undead when needed.

                                  The House of cogs

Also known as The Mechanus, the House of Modron, and the Rusted Cage, this layer is the second most powerful and shares the position of most important with The House of divines. The House is governed by the God of Modrons and order Primus The One and Prime, lord of Mechanus and the one who raised the crystal sphere from the Phlogiston. His duties are as widespread as any other but much more in depth as his duties are to uphold the laws of reality and physics. If it was not for him and his army of Modrons, mostly his Secundi which lead Monodrones, the tears in the weave caused by magi would rip holes into the world, the laws of reality that would usually only bend in the presence of gods would snap completely, and the very concept of logic and reason would be forsaken for the same Limboan chaos that once ruled Bator so long ago.

                                  The House of divines

The final and top layer of the Allied Hierarchy is The House of divines. Oft called The cold house, the House of the gavel, and Hell in Elysium, this layer is ruled over by Asmodeus, the primeval God of Justice and Law, He who was first, who's impact created the Nine Layers of Hell, he who strikes the hammer down, and the father of order itself. He rules the layer with a will unperturbed by the pleas of his court participants, instead judging by the hard letter of the law. He is the supreme lord of the Alliance of the Sane Gods, Primus is the only one equal in power to him within the pantheon, and as such his duties are to ensure the law is upheld for the pantheon itself, along with all gods that hold stake in the Abandoned Realm. He is served in his duties by his devil subjects in the Nine Layers, although he preffers to use his Incubi and Succubi agents when he must represent himself in the Alliance.

Culture

The culture of the Alliance is one of tension. The infinite bureaucracy of the pantheon makes every action slow, by divine standards, and nothing is truly secret nor kept personal. Every action of every member of the Alliance must be reported to keep the machine working smoothly, and the complex machinery that is its paperwork requires a constant flow of work to move through it, as if it breathed ink and cellulose. What makes this tension bearable to the members of the pantheon, as well as gives them a reason to join, is the sense of duty every member has. Even now, long after they were forced to shut the realm of Bator within the very sphere they created they all still know that they have a duty to protect it from the chaos that, they know, would consume it if they did not keep it at bay. They see themselves as the internal, although now partially external, immune system that compliments the completely external defenses of the Conjoining of the Mad Gods, a fact that inspires much pride in the gods and their worshipers that belong to this alliance.

Public Agenda

The purpose of the Alliance in the Abandoned Realm is best put as the same purpose that engineers play in an engine. It exists to oil the cogs, replace broken pieces, and clean the parts of dust and other kinds of dirt. In more literal terms, they maintain the natural order of the realm, the civilized order, the moral order, and the physical order, all the while repair the damage caused by mortal interference with all of the previously mentioned orders.

History

The origin of the Alliance lies with the origin of Bator and the Abandoned Realm itself. When the Sane Gods raised the world of Bator from Limbo and build up the crystal sphere, this did not go unnoticed among the multi-spherical powers, as the creation of a crystal sphere is a power that not even the greatest of gods, excluding Over-Powers, are capable off, and none of the three original Sane Gods were willing to explain how they did it. To ensure that these new deities would put their powers to good use, and not overthrow the already existing multi-spherical powers, the Egyptian god Horus-Re came with the idea to grant them their own pantheon, which would be merged with the Conjoining of the Mad Gods to create a proper pantheon for their new realm.   From then on, the Alliance became a constant in the lives of the mortals in the Abandoned Realm, with their influence being palpable at every point in its history, with both obvious influences, such as when Asmodeus appeared in-front of a Lich which intended apotheosis to punish him for trying to break the natural order, and in subtle ways, such as whenever a group of heroes just happens to stumble upon an evil cult or just happen to kill a monster that threatened the world. However, as their purpose was one of maintenance and reactive actions, its more likely for an individual god to work on their own when they need to get something done, which means that the Alliance has rarely worked as a single force unless specific events fall into place, such as the previously mentioned attempt at apotheosis of the Lich. As such, up until the Collision it would be more common to see lightning strike the same place twice than it would be to see the Alliance as an active faction within any conflict.   That is, up until The Collision.   During this catastrophe, the Alliance served as the most active force of all as they quickly worked alongside Acr'Aldr to ensure the safety of the mortals. Sereté used her dryads to sent large swaths of mortals to the Dancing Dream, Lege-Schulp protected the Golinae with its own body and Witte Wijven, Amaunator send his Avengers to heal the victims of The Collision in the after-math, Krtsk gave his Tlincalli children the wisdom to preserve themselves within their Hegemony, Asmodeus helped the deities in their escape from The Castle, and Primus finally closed off the Sphere, erasing the stars from the sky, so The Castle could not escape but neither could anything enter the realm via the usual portals on the sphere anymore.   Ever since then, the Alliance has attempted to preserve the order from before The Collision, all the while opposing The Castle's spread and trying to rebuild the old order. Some even say their agents are responsible for various important events in the reemergence of civilization, such as the building of the Tower in Mirti'There or the latest vertical expansions of the Tlincalli Hegemony, although this has not been made clear due to the, literal, distance between the Alliance and the Abandoned Realm.

The Order of the world is maintained within a court of law and the house of parliament, not on the field of battle nor the execution chamber
