Wrapped: Where's Elirith?
After rescuing her mother from Shepherd's Rest, Elirith left the Freelancers leaving a letter with Penny. Liv used spells to reach out to Elirith and find where she was; she's being held captive and guarded by the Warforged, Echo, somewhere beneath the Numenor. We went to Palen to find her brother at Elirith's request (see The Night Mother). After (sort of) rescuing Xun and returning to Haven, we went to Toloy's office to find the doorway to where we believed she was being held, only to find it totally wrecked. Elirith only answered the Sending with one word: Safe.
Later, Xue came to see us as her persona, Serlina, and explained that our return to Bastion had distracted the Shadows enough that she could make her escape. She had found that The Ascendent existed as an entity on their own, and the Shadows were using them as a tool. She feels the Shadows are behind a lot of the things in the city, and hoping to find that out with Felicity's help. She asked that we do not Scry her, but agreed that if she doesn't reply to 3 consecutive Sendings, then we can.
The Night Mother / Xun
While in the Underdark on Diplomat business for Otho, Mesh and Dhaer were overwhelmed by enemies, and we went on an expedition to rescue Mesh. The Night Mother was in the process of turning Mesh / infecting her with some sort of parasite to reuse her body. Later we came across a black dragon in his lair underground in the northern tundra. In return for not eating us there and then, we agreed that we would kill the Night Mother for him as revenge for her taking his brother's body. When we returned from Feywild wibblywobblytimeywimey shenanigans, Elirith asked (via Sending message replies) that we find her brother who had been sent to the Palen Imperium as a spy, and who The Ascendent/Shadows were looking for. We eventually found Xun in House Karlaith as he had been the Night Mother all along, and had made a pact with Zua'garr to fuel his plans to take over Bastion. Xun is now under Haven-arrest, and has had the fear of gods put in him by Otho. He's also been suitably bollocked by his sister. Entries in Dwarvish in the Night Mother's room: “The tablet seems to hold some form of power. I can feel it almost calling to me. I’ve been having dreams about some creature, somewhat disturbing in nature, but I sense it does not wish to harm me. Hard to explain.” “He reached out to me. Offered me power, power to grow myself and an army beyond imagination. Soldiers made from the fallen. Waste nothing, waste no-one. They can serve eternal. I was right, this is my chance.” “First Palen, Deagoth will fall in line as soon as The Warden is taken down. Palen will not have the army to resist a direct assault. Then with the power of the imperium and him at my back, Bastion will pay. They will fall. They think themselves so arrogant, so pure and powerful. They are nothing but racist bastards, living in a stone prison too blind to see that there is so much better. They will bend to my will, I will grow them as I have grown my army. I will create the Bastion that should be. Larger, we will build, we will expand, and we will conquer.”Back to Plot Points
