The Ascendent
Rising from the more militant elements of the Crook that were kept under control by the previous Marshall are The Ascendent. Following his death they used it as an excuse to rile up the city. Many of the peaceful protests turned into riots following their intervention. The majority of this group were either killed or exiled as a result of the uprising, but a number were more shrewd and evaded capture. Since then they have operated more as a gang than a political or social movement. They maintain a pretense of fighting for human rights, but are motivated more by bitterness, self interest and racial prejudice than anything else.
Many of the young and disadvantaged boys from Shepherd’s rest found their way into their ranks and were indoctrinated to be loyal to their fellow gang members above all else. The group fund themselves through protection rackets, petty theft and most recently the sale of Ether.
