The Radiant Seat
Housed within Light Watch, The Radiant Seat refers to the governing body that is in charge of running Bastille. It is from the Radiant Seat that the Radiant One's edicts are sent out to the many districts of Bastille. The Illuminated Ones enforce the edicts and act as the right hand of the Seat. Within Bastille, the seat is the ultimate authority and final say in every matter that arises within the demiplane.
Power Derived From Light
The Radiant Seat claims power by right of The Great Light. When something is good and to be upheld, it is considered to be embraced by the Light. When something is evil or taboo, the Seat derides it as residing in shadow. The Great Light guides the head of the Radiant Seat and therefore all of her mandates are holy and good. To question the Seat is to go against the light and reveal oneself to be an agent of shadow and be banished to the Shattergleam Forest where the enemies of the light reside in eternal twilight.Structure
The Radiant Seat is the head of a religious Autocracy. Luphilia Othoram is the head of the Seat and derives her power from the Divine Mandate of The Great Light. As such her words are holy and unquestionable. All of her edicts are absolute and must be enforced.
Illuminated Enforcement
The Illuminated Ones are the police that uphold the law of the Seat. These upper class citizens are tasked with maintaining order within the Districts. Harsh but fair, these arbiters of justice help the community settle disputes and even act as itinerant workers when the situation calls for it. It is not uncommon to see a group of Illuminated Ones helping a farmer bring in the harvest when their work cow goes lame. For respectable citizens, the Illuminated Ones are pillars of the community. For those who reside in shadow the Illuminated Ones represent a corrupt force of oppression that uphold the laws of an unjust system.Public Agenda
The Radiant Seat is dedicated to the survival of Bastille by any means. The resources within Bastille are severely limited and can only support so many people before being depleted. The Seat works tirelessly to balance population, food, and land in an effort to prevent the delicate economy of Bastille from collapsing. The edicts made by Luphilia are harsh but ultimately in the best interest of all who call Bastille their home.
History
Formation Of The Seat
The Radiant Seat is as old as Bastille. The Seat was created by necessity in DR1492 by Luphilia Othoram. Bastille was in chaos during its foundation and order needed to be maintained. As the most powerful sorceress within Bastille, it only made sense that Luphilia took up the mantle of responsibility. She named the The Great Light and held it up as the paragon of the good that resides within all of the citizens of Bastille. Luphilia named herself the Radiant One and made her first edict: that all citizens of Bastille should be marked so that they would be bound together as a community.
