Districts
Proximity Is Next To Godliness
Districts refer to the many land masses that orbit the The Great Light. Each district has its own social standing based on its proximity to The Great Light. The closer a district is to Light Watch, the more prestige it retains. A district like Shattergleam Forest is the furthest district from The Great Light and has the lowest social standing while Halo is the closest and retains the highest standing as the seat of power within the Bastille.Dark Sides and Light Sides
Each district orbits the The Great Light in predictable and steady patterns. Due to this, each district has a side that always faces the Great Light and one side that always faces away. Residents live on both sides of the district and refer to their side as if it were a county. I.E. Gregg lives in the Shattergleam Forest District, dark side. His friend Sally lives in White Glen, light side.Traveling Between Districts
There are no restriction preventing citizens of the Bastille from traveling between districts but there are heavily implied social consequences. The The Affirmed try to avoid any districts that are composed primarily of Duskmen so that there reputations are not sullied. Therefore travel to districts like Shattergleam Forest is uncommon and never without good reason. When it becomes necessary for a citizen to travel from one district to another, they must embark upon a Light Bridge. In each district there is a Wayfarer that is tasked with authorizing, or declining, each citizen request to travel between districts and creating a Light Bridge to carry them to their destination."My job is to get you from one district to another sir. I'm also to verify your Mark and arrest any Unmarked , Light forbid any exist. Be careful out there. Shattergleam is no place for decent men like yourself. Full of Duskmen. Farewell" -Wayfarer Shiro Nakatumi
