House Vallakovich

House Vallakovich is a noble Barovian House, situated in Vallaki, which is named for them. The Vallakoviches have traditionally held the title of Burgomeister over the town since its founding. The current head of the House is Burgomeister Vargas Vallakovich.
House Vallakovich is the long-time rival of House Wachter.

History

The name Vallakovich stems from the first name of one of Count Strahd von Zarovich's principal officers during the Invasion of Rassveta, Lavro Vasilievich who was nicknamed "Vallak" by his Aussenseiter subordinates. Lavro, who didn't speak Kaltsprache, believed the mercenaries when they told him this name meant "hero," so he adopted it as his preferred name. In truth, the nickname means "a gelding, a castrated male horse."
