House Wachter

House Wachter is a noble Aussenseiter-Barovian House that resides in Vallaki. It is currently headed by Boyarina Fiona Wachter in lieu of Nikolai Wachter Jnr., after the death of Nikolai Wachter Snr..
House Wachter traces its founding to Adalhund Wachter, a mercenary general of Strahd von Zarovich during the Invasion of Rassveta. Due to his exemplary service, he was awarded significant lands around and north of the current site of Vallaki in the Vallaki Valley, including holdings in the Baratok Slopes.
House Wachter is the long-time rival of House Vallakovich, whom they see as unfairly being awarded the town of Vallaki at the end of the Invasion. Ever since, House Wachter has endeavoured to usurp House Vallakovich, but has never succeeded for any length of time.
