Kaltsprache

Kaltsprache is the primary language of the Aussenseiter people, the once mercenary folk who joined Strahd von Zarovich's invasion of the County of Barovia. After the Mists came, most Aussenseiter assimilated into the wider Barovian culture, and lost their native language, though some groups — such as the Shattered-Fang Tribe — resisted and held on to it.
Beyond the Mists, Kaltsprache is still widely spoken as a language among mercenaries and has become widely adopted by both warriors and rogues as a battle/thieves cant. Within the County of Barovia, however, its use is considered extremely uncouth.
