Uriel is a powerful human mage who lives in isolation in the Tallrook Woodlands. He spends most of his time working on his experiments.

Motivation
He is determined to stop the plots and machinations of Seraxes. After having stopped him in the future, an unexpected event pulled Seraxes and Uriel into the past. Seraxes escaped after seriously wounding Uriel, who nearly died from the wounds he sustained. While seeking shelter he stumbled upon the lair of Azurelith the Blue, who seeing the past, present and future of Uriel, told him that he needed to seek out the 'refracted'. They directed them to a rural village, where he began to seek out the refracted that the dragon spoke of. Once he found them, he dedicated much of his time to training them when he wasn't working on one of his many experiments.

Uriel blackmailed Duke into adopting Pyre. His son Garret had recently displayed signs of k'tan powers, a fact that the Tyrokian military would take great interest in. Knowing that if they found out, they would dispatch soldiers to seize Garret and train him to be a soldier. Duke had suffered this as a child himself, but Garret was much to young at the time for such a life. He begrudingly agreed to take the child in. Despite the nature of how Pyre became Duke's daughter, he came to love her as his own daughter.
