Session 5 - The Shadow in the Blight Report - Level 3

General Summary

• Ryan (Icarus) was unable to attend tonights session.

• Elsine (Asog) had to leave after 2 hours.

The party flee the blighted woods and send Lucas off to make his report to Midnight. They return home and later in the day, just as the sun begins to set Ciaren burst into his house and orders Asog to run to the village and sound the alarm. Without question Asog does as his father asks.
The militia (Garret, Aragon & Cooper) gather as do the rest of the party, and they head out quickly to see what the problem is. The party suspects it has something to do with what happened back at the Blighted Woods.
They fall behind the militia, who meet up with Ciaren and run ahead into the forest, where they see the animated corpse of an owlbear, being animated by the thorned vines they have seen at the Blighted Woods. Using the vines, it captures Ciaren, nearly kills him and has everyone scared for what is to come. However, after a timely critical hit, Asog smites the beast dealing a huge amount of damage to it. (max crits) The rest of the party quickly finish it off. As they heal Ciaren and investigate the body, the vines burst to life and lash out at everyone in range. The vines are swiftly dealt with by a lightning strike from Dandylion. Gux rolls up shortly after to help dispose of the corpse.
The party meet with the Forest Lord, escorted by Dandylion, and then head to Uriel's. After mentioning the attack, Uriel makes a bee-line for the door portal, but in his hurry he does not close it behind him. The party follow and discover him yelling at the creature, in the ruined remains of Darnalore's former home, and now dead village. Liath Anam finally meets their 'mother' and connects with Darnalore for the first time. After leaving, the party question Uriel. Getting some answers but he refuses to answer all of them until the appropriate time. He does ask Ophelia to retrieve the item being made by Aries (Ophelia's blacksmith friend in the next village over) as he needs it in order to complete his work before the Harvest Festival. So the next day the party head to Ovis village, where they see three bandits delivering the severed head of a now dead hostage, because the village have not yet paid the ransom. The discover that Aries is one of the hostages, and plan to head out to rescue her. They find out the kidnappers have set up base in a fortified location which is an abandoned mine.
