Faid
When a citizen gives all of their Ee-Loque they enter the Faid.
The only cure, if it can be considered such, is to receive Breath from another.
The Faid is a natural state. One that is both blessed and cursed. Many have family members or friends that have entered the Faid and if they can, they have kept them in their homes a reminder that one day their loved one may return to them.
The Faid is not death. It is immortality. The body looses all colouration, the ability to move independently, and does not degrade though all bodily functions have ceased. Further, the body becomes resistant to harm, and if well maintained will revive without harm or deterioration.
Many who suffer incurable illness, great physical tragedy or mental illnesses chose to enter the Faid in hopes that the future will hold for them a cure.
In an emergency many have been saved by giving their Breath to one person and entering the Faid. This allowed them to be pulled from burning buildings, thrown great distances or left behind, while their family or friend reached safety. Later they were recovered and then restored.
When restored those experiencing the Faid do not perceive that time has passed and report the experience as pleasant as waking up. The Medicament Brotherhood have the special responsibility of helping those who have no community or family recover from the Faid. They are the Realm's experts and keepers of those in the Faid.
Upon occasion, a criminal citizen is given the option to enter into Faid instead of suffering death or a lifetime of civic service in the care of the Paragons. This is seen as a great blessing for in this way the peace and prosperity of the Realm is maintained and those citizen's entering Faid may one day in the future return to life as a citizen of the Realm.
