Eamon (ay-mahn)

The Great Arbiter

Eamon, the Overseer of the Law and Keeper of Justice, is one of the Deirid - born to two members of The Four. The child of the Nisme Damara and Talia, Eamon was raised to protect the people of Ayndrinor by keeping the laws and making sure those who broke the laws were punished fairly. Many high courts or houses of justice across the world bear the symbol of - if not a small temple or shrine to - Eamon. However, his tenets have been easily corrupted in the past, by so-called Black Justiciars, to bring draconian and overly harsh punishments on populations under authoritarian rulers.   Probably Eamon's most pronounced claim to fame is that he led a coalition to rescue his mother Talia from the clutches of Morwyn in The Nine Hells. She had been kidnapped and forced to produce a divine offspring against her will. It took the rest of the deities some time to learn of Talia's predicament, and Eamon quickly organized a group of warriors - both celestial and mortal - to retrieve his mother from her prison.   Eamon is one of the few Deirid to produce offspring, having done so fairly recently with Toldrun. Their child is known as Níamorr, the Golden Lord, and is the god of nobility and protecting the right to rule. Some speculate this offspring may have been a trick or coercion by Toldrun, as Níamorr's tenets seem to place hereditary rule on a higher importance than righteous rule, which many say Eamon would rather support. The specifics of this - like so many other things involving the deities and their creation - is shrouded in mystery, rumor, and legend.   While Eamon boasts the Justices and Lawbearers of the world, his followers are not always the ones to carry out justice. Sometimes, especially in cases where a criminal has fled or has proven too violent to capture, the services of priests of Múr are needed. This god is more about protecting the innocent, but he partners with his cousin Eamon in many cases to make sure justice is served to those who break the laws.

Tenets of Faith

  • Uphold the laws of the land.
  • Where the laws or punishments may be unjustly harsh, seek to change them peaceably.
  • Tackle tyranny and oppression wherever you encounter it.
  • Use violence only as a last resort to resolve conflict. When force is needed, be unrelenting and decisive.
  • An arrested criminal may be reformed or rehabilitated. A dead criminal will carry their misdeeds with them as a curse for eternity.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Eamon is generally described as a dark-skinned elf male (some sources actually say drow, while others specify this is not the case) with long wavy brown hair. He is depicted as wearing meager, modest clothing and holding a set of scales in one hand and a large polearm (the specific type varies based on the source) in the other.
