The Aldenia Unification Treaty

The Age of Conflict

The Age of Conflict lasted for roughly three thousand years, spanning from around 5,000 BCE to 2,000 BCE and its end point is defined by The Ten Year Winter, after which the main civilisations in Aldenia came together to unify and recover as a collective. The Age of Conflict was not one 3,000 year war, but merely three millennia defined by various conflicts and antagonism. For Aldenia, this was mostly a cold war, though it did on occasion flare up into actual battle. Most of the contests during this period in Aldenia were between Dwarves and Humans, Dwarves and Elves or Orcs and anyone else. The Orcish trend of fluctuating between warmongering and peace-seeking does still continue to this day, however. They were not a part of the Unification Treaty.

The Ten Year Winter

The Ten Year Winter was a devastating seemingly supernatural event where the world of Axora was subjected to a wintry period that lasted a decade. Farming became nearly impossible and the people of the world were forced to work together to survive. This led to grudges being put to one side and eventually the realisation that a unified effort was superior to constantly being at one another's throat.

The Signing

The leaders of the Humans, Dwarves, Elves and Gnomes came together at the site of a new town that was be built where the bridge over Mohzall's Chasm was going to be located. The town became Cragview. The signing of the treaty marks the beginning of the Age of Harmony, which lasted until the outbreak of the Cataclysm War.

The Treaty

The Treaty holds mostly straightforward unified initiatives. It states that should any of the four races come under attack, the others will offer to help defend. One of the biggest changes that came about due to the treaty was the adoption by the Gnomes and Dwarves of the human law enforcement structure of the Lawkeepers , though they do have their own Lawkeeper General.
