Session 3: Giant Beasts and Where to Find Them

General Summary

The group, Falco Thunukalathi in particular, attempted to tame the wolf they had saved. However, eventually, the wolf picked up a scent and found his way back to his owner, a Half-Orc called Lorrak. Lorrak explained that he had noticed a change in the natural order within the forest and much the like the group, was attempting to find the source of the problem.   With their interests aligned, Lorrak and his wolf, Shadow, joined the group as Lorrak and Jraxler Rahman used their keen abilities to follow a trail left by the spiders the group had just vanquished. They followed the tracks for a few more hours until the sun fell below the horizon and they decided to set down for the night. Taking it in turns to watch, the night passed without incident.   The following morning, another thankfully clear day, the group were capable of following the tracks further. A few hours in, they crossed paths with a small bunch of elk in a clearing. They attempted to avoid disturbing the animals by circling around them. However, a poorly judged attempt to scatter the elk with a thaumaturgy spell ended up alerting not only the elk but also a giant elk that the group had not yet noticed just beyond. Startled, and seemingly following cues from the giant elk, the elk attacked. After a tussle, perhaps the toughest so far for this band of adventurers, the group stood victorious. After failing to hit the giant elk, Soldunn Darkhold was further frustrated by the beast as every attempt to take a trophy he made also failed. However, Zeth'rim gifted an antler hat made out of one of the normal-sized elk instead.   This unfortunate battle behind them, the group continued to follow the spiders' trail and eventually reached a short tower situated beside a stream. The tower looked as if it was originally meant to be a built like a tall and magnificent structure for it was about 100ft across. However, it was only about 25ft tall, suggesting that the original plan was scrapped for some reason and they had just decided that was enough and stuck a roof on top there. The base level housed a large and grand door, also hinting at the grand designs it perhaps initially held.   After repeated knocking, eventually the door was answered by a wizened old man, who after Soldunn shoved the door open on him, welcomed them in. The old man, distracted and speaking in broken fragments, appeared to mistake the group's intentions at first. He thought they were here to bring some afore-promised supplies. Eventually they discovered that he was, in fact, the source of the giant animals. This old man was a wizard, seemingly afraid of the Radiant Tower, who was attempting to improve and perfect the Enlargement spell. Determined to not let his life's work go to waste, the man's demeanour changed and on the second floor of his tower, a battle between the group and the man and some of his creations followed. The giant badger in particularly caused surprisingly painful wounds to Falco. However, ultimately although all the giant creatures were taken down, the old man escaped.
