Tipsy Hen Pub Building / Landmark in Aviron | World Anvil

Tipsy Hen Pub

The exterior of this building has a jutting wrought iron sign proudly displaying its name: Tipsy Hen Pub.

The Inn is a shabby 2 story wood building. It is located in the goblin district. Just below the sign is the figure of a rabbit.

Atmosphere: The air is filled with the smell of beef being Barbecued. The ambiance here is plain. The inn is dimly lit only by sconces, and 4 ever glowing torches and a fire in the hearth. The clientèle of this establishment is lower-class. There is a The crown of house Aureal and it sits on the wall behind the bar.

  • Architecture

The building is built around a wooden frame, with mortared stone. The whole of this building is roofed with grey-brown tiles. The porch is creaky and needs some work. The beams of the upper floor are exposed and grayed with age. There are two large windows at the front of the building looking out to the street.

The entrance is a set of large and ornately carved Brown Teak double doors constructed of reinforced iron. The entranceway is richly decorated with fine Yellow Pine wood paneling around its entirety. There is finely carved molding around the doors and archways. This is where the front desk is located. The front desk is a well-crafted piece of Imbuia furniture. Keys hang from little hooks near each of the room tags, with quite a number of keys missing.

The common room is roughly square and separated from the main body of the building by a central door. Large beams and studs cut from Aviron White Beech and Elvyn Olivewood support the ceiling and walls of this room. Along a Short Leaf Yellow Pine-panel wall rest the casks of ales, cider, and mead on a stout table. Drinking horns hang from knotted straps above the casks. Square tables fill one side of the room with round tables spaced to fill the remaining area. The fire is always lit, although it often is little more than smoldering embers.

A large plate-glass window in the kitchen allows plentiful amounts of light into this chamber, keeping it bright. The final furnishings are a large kitchen table and dresser. Pot, kettles and tied herbs hang from the ceiling.

The cellar is partially underground and the upper floor is built on the top of it, i.e. is slightly above the ground floor (about 1 meter). A table in the kitchen covers the trapdoor leading to the cellar. This dark room is lined with large oak casks of wine, ale, beer, brandy, and whisky. Each barrel is marked to denote contents and the date it was made.

A flight of stairs runs from the middle of the common area upward to a hallway. The hall is well illuminated by two hanging lanterns, which bounce light off of the well-polished wood of the walls.

The bathing room is big enough for one bather in a large wine barrel. When the patron is finished, all they have to do is pull the cork stopper at the bottom of the tub and the water will drain down pipes built between the floor and wall joists. These pipes snake their way throughout the building and eventually descend through the cellar and into the ground, to eventually drain into the sewers below.

Each guestroom contains two simple, but well-crafted beds and a small table. The room is well lit during the day by windows and during the night by small, hooded table lamps.

The master suite is two rooms, the front half of each suite is furnished with a small table for dining as well as with several comfortable sitting chairs. The bedroom is separated from the rest of the room by a simple archway and contains four solid oak beds. It also includes it's own private bath.

The owner's room contain a double bed, chamber pot, writing desk with two chairs and a chest for clothes. The chamber is plain and unadorned, with the exception of a small shelf unit against one wall.
