Captain Thalia Viktra

The Reef Queen Thalia Viktra (a.k.a. Serpent of the Seas)

Thalia was formerly a beautiful elf maiden of a noble house. Forced to study the arcane arts, she was an adept practitioner, but always found herself drawn to the sea. Deciding she wanted more out of life than to be a noble arcanist, she stowed away aboard a merchant vessel aboard she stole scraps of food and some minor weapons left unattended. After a week at sea the captain discovered her and was immediately furious. Seizing her arm he dragged her above deck binding her to the mast. Saying that having a woman aboard was ill fortune and bound to anger Kioron God of the Sea, he made to slit her throat and dump her in the sea.   Unbeknownst to the captain she had managed to acquire a dagger while aboard his ship and secreted it away in her sleeve. Wriggling it free she cut her bonds, keeping her hands behind her back waiting for his approach. When  he stepped towards her she deftly brought up the dagger driving it directly into his eye, quickly drawing it back and slashing through the fleshy fold of his throat. As he slumped forward spraying arterial red all across the deck with practiced speed she drew his cutlass rounding towards the crew, as her hand alighted with arcane flame. Looking on at the merchants crew with a wicked grin, his lifes-blood splashed across her face and dripping down her front, "Any other objections to me being here?"   A barrel chested Dwarven man looked at her with disdain written across his sun-stained face spat at her feet. "Aye."   With unnatural speed and grace she deftly removed his head with his former captains cutlass and let loose a jet of flame, signaling to the others to think before they made any similar mistakes. As his head rolled to the feet of the first mate, it's dead eyes and tongue lulled in its head to stare up at him. Looking down at the bosun's head at his feet, the first mate slowly drew his own blade with the utmost caution never lowering his eyes from Thalia. Slowly he brought forth the blade, pointing it at her feet. "Captain, what will ye have us do?" He drawled.   With a sharp, sly smile Thalia took control of the ship. "First things first. strip them of anything of use and dump them overboard for the sharks. Then I want a list of all the cargo and armaments on board My Ship." She hissed viciously with a chuckle.   Traveling the seas as pirates Thalia and her crew took to raiding and pillaging ships on the open seas. Over time their ship took significant damage and nearly sunk, limping along the ran aground on a tropical island. Here they took to raiding the villages there taking what they could gold, jewels, holy relics, weapons, slaves, anything they could find value in. On that tropical island Thalia and her crew encountered one who was a practitioner of the arcane arts. Thalia and her crew robbed them and raised their village, as a result of their actions the arcane practitioner used the last reserves of her strength to get her patron to place a curse on the dreaded woman and her crew.   The patron being an archfey of the feywild placed a curse over Thalia turning her into a gorgon. Her long blond hair turned to long iridescent snakes and her skin took turned to black and green scales. When she looked upon her crew they were turned to stone.   Thalia spent time on the island repairing her ship and learning to control her new petrifying gaze. Practicing being able to activate it at will and not turn everything immediately to stone. With some semblance of control and her ship repaired, Thalia left the island in search of a new crew and better more suited ship.   She made her way to the shores of Ebonport on the Northeastern coast of Aegis. There she recruited a crew and took the first of many trophies to come turning Linn "the Reaper" Ashecroft to stone and taking his ship The Sea Scythe. After testing her new crew and their ship on the series of merchant vessels, Thalia rechristened the ship The Corrupted Curse.   Having earned quite the reputation Thalia and her crew set course for Blood Cove in Darkreach. Deciding it was about time she set out and met the Reef King.   Strutting about like she owned the place Thalia and her crew moved through the streets and gangplanks Blood Cove heading further into the bowels of Darkreach. Towering above the rest of Darkreach loomed the hulking shipwrecks that formed the keep where the Reef King's throne sat. Approaching the keep Thalia was stopped by the Reef King's thugs, whom attempted to bar her entrance.   With the slightest of effort she slew both of the thugs. Grasping the one severed head in one hand and the second petrified head in the other, Thalia kicked in the door strolling inside and tossing the heads at the Reef King's feet Casually gazing around to take in her surroundings she gestured vaguely and with the utmost confidence declared, "All thisss. Isss mine!"   "Like hell it is." the Reef King roared. "I know who you are, which is why I shall let you leave this room alive. I shall forgive your trespass and feeble attempt to intimidate me. You think you are the first to kill some of my men and come in here? Take a better look around wench, see those who have come a'for."   Upon the walls were the severed heads of those fools who'd attempted coups before. With a laugh Thalia turned her back calling over her shoulder, "I'll give you'ss till morn t' clear out of my keep."   The Reef King let out a deep belly laugh and gave the signal. Crossbows thunked and blades were drawn. "I hoped you'd have more sense than this." Thalia Sneered.   Dodging bolts and parrying blades, Thalia threw out spells, turned he gaze on others turning them to stone, and striking others down with her blade. As his men died the Reef King threw aside his cloak and dropped down from his raised platform with a heavy crash, drawing forth his massive greatsword. Their battle waged back and forth Thalia attacking and harrowing him with her spells. With the quickest flick of her blade she severed the Reef King's dominant sword hand sending it sprawling through the air trailing thick rivulets of blood behind. Driving her foot into his knee shattering the leg, causing it to bend backward at a very wrong angle, and dropping him completely to ground before her. With him completely at her mercy she turned and with one final strike severed his head, holding it before those still gathered triumphant.   The Reef King's former first mate gave out a throaty chuckle, calling out "Hail the Reef Queen. Long may she reign." As those in attendance repeated the cheer with raucous joy, the former first mate turned and strode from the keep, fearing the Reef Queen's retribution. Throughout the exchange Thalia never took her eyes off him. Seeing him leave she gave a subtle nod to her own first mate and made her way to her throne as her first mate left the keep as well.
