Deepscar

Deepscar is the condition left behind after a victim recovers from Deepsea Sickness.   Without treatment, it is guaranteed that Deepsea Sickness will result in death. Medical treatment at the Kingdom of Ignis facility has a success rate of at least 90%. The Ignis technique isolates and contains the disease within the body using Capsule Magic medication. Once Sickness has subsided, Deepscar remains.   Physically, this is seen on the victim's skin as discolored purple scars. The Sickness itself splinters the skin with scale-like growths, but the scales shed with the patient's recovery and leave discolored patches behind. The unusual skin isn't harmful and many patients choose to display these scars with pride.   Mentally, it has been found that those with Deepscar have a much higher chance of developing a mental illness.

Treatment

*Please see Encapsulation Therapy   The Ignis facility also offers extensive post-treatment care for Deepsea Sickness victims. Because mental health is a key concern of the Deepscarred, Ignis has developed their own branch of Capsule Magic to help regulate it. In place of standard techniques, the Ignis facility uses Capsule Magic to capture negative, disruptive, or otherwise troublesome emotions. Similar to their treatment of Sickness, the emotions are quarantined within the patient's own body.   Once the patient has their anxieties isolated, the next stage is to manifest the contained mental state into a perceivable form in the physical world. In this way, the patient's distressed emotions can be directly interacted with by a third party, such as a friend or loved one. The goal is to help the patient overcome their issues within the deepest level of their psyche.    However, the technology needed to achieve this is not fully developed, and emotional encapsulation and manifestation can be dangerous to both the patient and those involved. Patients and those close to them most commonly report memory loss, confusion, and erratic behavior after encapsulation treatments.
