Capsule Magic
Capsule Magic is a powerful type of technology that changed Aufyran life over the span of a decade and a half. It doesn't refer to a specific device, but the encapsulation magic that makes these devices possible.
It can be used for a vast range of things, such as:
- Bottled magical spells that do not require a mage/magical knowledge to cast
- Light & energy sources
- Explosives, used for excavation and otherwise
- Isolating & containing disease
- Obnoxious & popular novelty items, like noisy handheld bubbles that can be popped and reinflated instantly
Manufacturing
Part of the magical formula for Capsule Magic requires essence sourced from The Artifact. This essence is toxic and dangerous to transport, so most Capsule Magic objects are created in the same facility The Artifact is stored in.
Once the Capsule Magic object is completed, the toxic elements are safely contained. If the object breaks, it could be harmful to living creatures (like breaking a mercury thermometer).
When an item such as a one-time-use encapsulated spell is properly activated, the entire shell is used as fuel, and nothing of the object remains after. The released energy of the conversion is supposedly harmless.
Access & Availability
Lanterns of encapsulated fire magic light the streets of Ignis' capital. The farther you travel from the city, the less common Capsule Magic is.
Some Capsule Magic devices are available to the public, such as minor spellcasting capsules and novelty items. Stock is limited, and people will stand in line for hours to ensure they can purchase the device they want.
More dangerous spells (such as explosives) must be purchased directly from the manufacturer, with permission from the Kingdom.
Discovery
About twenty years ago, during the Years of Exploration, The Artifact was discovered. This object was studied and found to have a magical composition considered the "ultimate seal", and its magical formula was able to be replicated.
