Suktu Horse Racing

Written by orphidor

On the southern continents of Chengai and Tasawa, horse racing is a popular sport partaken in by the Suktu. The fastest horses and best jockeys are highly revered in their respective territories.

History

Horse racing began early on in the Age of Balance, but only became popular after settlements across the two continents became stable because it's a pursuit of entertainment and isn't necessary for most people's survival.

Participants

The main participants are the horses' jockeys. Audiences are always present to observe the races. Behind the scenes, trainers work with the horses to ensure that they reach their peak performances. The horses are usually owned by wealthy individuals, who become deeply invested in the outcomes of the races.

Observance

In the Tall Cities, horse racing typically takes place in the colosseums left behind by the settlements' old inhabitants. Less formal races also happen on the fields or roads of smaller villages. The races are common during festivals or days of celebration, but they also take place regularly throughout the spring and summer, when the weather is pleasant.
