Tall Cities
The tall cities are meticulously-planned and architecturally-stunning walled cities found scattered throughout the Middle Realm. The Suktu and Adalei in particular have taken to utilizing them as their own homes, though their original builders are entirely unknown. The cities were there when the Age of Balance began, entirely empty and abandoned, with no hints to inform about those who used to live within their walls. Whoever the builders were, they had many more years' worth of knowledge regarding the planning and building of settlements due to the tall cities' streamlined street layouts, advanced water supply mechanisms, and innovative waste disposal systems.
Demographics
Those who dwell within the walls of the tall cities are usually Suktu, with the Metropolitan Kalzua and Adalei making up smaller percentages of their populations. In the south, the Polda are also present, while the Xhiri live within their boundaries in the north. The rare Camua also make their homes in the shadowy corners of the cities and the Tsaamit visit them on their travels.
Government
Each tall city has its own head council which, though mysterious, is known to oversee its functionings.
Defences
Each city is surrounded by a massive wall several times taller than the average Suktu. The walls are interrupted by enormous gates at the cardinal direction points, as well as smaller gates in other opportune areas.
Infrastructure
The cities' roads are paved with cobblestones and are built in a circular or radiating fashion from the center outwards. Under the streets, the sewers and fresh waterworks are similarly laid out. This infrastructure had to be restored for every currently-livable tall city.
Points of interest
The buildings at the middle of each tall city are always larger and more elaborate than those at the outer edges. They make for excellent government buildings and official business centers.
Architecture
The architecture of the tall cities is elaborate and gorgeous. It features curved sloping roofs, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, verandas, and many other beautiful elements. The roofs are made from dark tile, but the rest of every city is built from the same dark marble with a slightly greenish hue in direct light. It's unknown where this marble came from since no mines where it could have originated from have been discovered.
