Xaod the Slayer Character in Asyur | World Anvil

Xaod the Slayer

Xaod is an interesting character. Although devoted to St. Heironeous (a patron of Talos), he has spent most of his career just barely retaining his paladinhood. He is crude, loud, and often boorish, with a reputation as a dangerous fighter and a bit of a drunkard. For this reason Xaod spends times at Terrigan's, in the boxing ring there where he wins his keep when not adventuring.

Personal history

C. 4113 M.E.
Xaod arrived in Hommlet rather recently, having come back from some expedition to a ruin where he slew many gnolls and hobgoblins. He is a crude, loud, and often boorish man with a reputation as a dangerous fighter and a bit of a drunkard. Xaod can be found spending most of his days at Terrigan's earning his pay in the ring or spending his well earned coin at his preferred establishment the Inn of the Welcome Wench.   Xaod first met the Mercenaries of the Wheel on his first night in Hommlet after his adventure's conclusion and arrival into town. Here Kiln overheard him tell his hired caravan help to keep quite of the location of his last adventure, as well as their final pay and their leave of Xaod. Xoad would be seen again the next day at Terrigan's by Mangoseed and the group, fighting in the ring against one of the town's blacksmiths. And upon victory, would take his winnings and depart for the night to the Welcome Wench for food and lodging.

Paladin Abilities
Aura of Courage. Xaod and friendly creatures within 10 feet of him can't be frightened while he is conscious.

Divine Health. Xaod is immune to disease as divine magic flows through him.

Lay on Hands (12 points/day). Xaod's blessed touch can heal wounds. He has a pool of healing power that replenishes when he takes a long rest. With that pool he can restore a total number of hit points equal to 20 (paladin level x 5).   As an action, Xaod can touch a creature and draw power from the pool to restore a number of hit points to that creature, up to a maximum amount remaining in his pool.   Alternatively, Xaod can spend 5 hit points from his pool of healing to cure the target of one disease or neutralize one poison affecting it. Xoad can cure multiple diseases and neutralize multiple poisons with a single use of Lay on Hands, expending hit points separately for each one.   This feature has no effect on undead and constructs.

Remove Disease (1/week). By touching a target Xaod can remove 1 disease or neutralize one poison affecting the target.

Actions

Masterwork Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: 1d20+7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 1d8+2 or 7 1d10+2 slashing damage. Crit on 19-20: 10 2d8+2 or 12 2d10+2 slashing damage.

Mighty Composite Longbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: 1d20+4 to hit, range 110 ft., one target. Hit: 6 1d8+2 piercing damage. x3 Crit chance.

Smite Evil (1/day, +3 to hit, +4 damage). Once per day, Xaod the paladin may attempt to smite evil with one normal melee attack. He adds his Charisma bonus (+3) to his attack roll and deals 1 extra point of damage per paladin level (+4). If Xaod accidentally smites a creature that is not evil, the smite has no effect, but the ability is still used up for that day.

Channel Divinity: Turn Undead (10/day). Xaod has the supernatural ability to turn undead. As an action, Xaod presents his holy Symbol and speak a prayer censuring the Undead. Each Undead that can see or hear him within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is turned for 1 minute or until it takes any damage.   A turned creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from Xaod as it can, and it can't willingly move to a space within 30 feet of him. It also can't take Reactions. For its action, it can use only the Dash action or try to Escape from an Effect that prevents it from moving. If there's nowhere to move, the creature can use the Dodge action.
