Evergreen

In the northern end of the continent lies the capital of The Republic of Thorns. A city of high spires, elevated parks, and dark alleyways. A place sprawling with people of every race, fantastical creatures and trades from all corners of the world.   Evergreen owes its abundance and prosperity to its rulers: The Confederacy of United Magical Theorom. Or as it is known by most people: The Guild of Mages. The Confederacy has been in control of the city since the turn of the era and has brought it to where it is today. By creating a joint effort between the different schools of magic, and almost every magic user in the city, they were able to create a powerful settlement which would grow with each new commodity that was introduced to it.

Government

The Guild of Mages control the city. Each school of magic has a political representative and these 8 individuals make up the high government of the city. Highest among them is the Archmage Ginn'Kaas who has held the position since the turning of the era. The council holds fully democratic votes, but if there would ever be a stalemate the Archmage holds final word on any ruling.

Infrastructure

The city is divided into ten districts. Eight of these are based upon the magical academy found within them. Of the other two one is the tower district, which is controlled directly by the Archmage. The final district is the city harbor which none of the academies may lay claim to.   The tower district is defined by a perfect circle of white marble about 500 meters across, in the very center of which stands the Oculum, the home and office of the Archmage. The Oculum is also the very center of the town and all the other districts spread out away from it.   The harbor district takes up almost the entirety of the northern part of the city. Since sea-fare is Evergreens' highest source of income it is considered the most important of all the districts.   Neighboring the harbor to the east is the Transmutation-district which is filled with workshops of every kind, from forges to tanneries and alchemists. The constant work being conducted creates a thin layer of smog and the common folk have taken to call this place "The Smokes". At its northern end, overlooking the docks, is a wide structure several stories high which changes its appearance regularly due to the experiments within. This is the Factorium, the seat of the Transmuters.   The temple-district is where most people come to pray, seek counsel of the gods, and to lay their dead to rest. It is also the Necromancy-district. The Necromancers of Evergreen are mostly as feared as any other place, yet here they are also very respected. They have been given the duty to make sure that everything surrounding the city's dead is kept in order. The temple-district is a quiet place as several spells have been placed upon every singular temple so that the worship inside does not disturb that of any other.
